Spire is hiring HVAC Helpers, also called Service and Installation Department (SAID) Helpers, to work in our St. Louis location. The HVAC/SAID Helper role is responsible for assisting our service technicians with installations, turn-ons or meter changes/meter sets. Successful candidates must have the following experience to be qualified:

  • High school diploma

  • HVAC certification

  • A clean driving record

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Chauffer’s license (Class E)

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Pipe Fitter, Institutional/Commercial/Industrial Technician, or Special Adjust Technician in installations, repairs, turn-ons, or meter changes/meter sets.

  • Load, retrieve, and unload materials for individual jobs.

  • Provide physical assistance for fitter or Technician to complete assigned job. Assist in re-lighting appliances.

  • Leak investigations. Complete route sheet.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Chauffers' license.

  • Must be able to safely operate a 1-ton service van, and a 3/4-ton pickup truck.

  • High school diploma/ G.E.D.

  • HVAC certification required

  • 2 to 3 years HVAC experience preferred

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Ability to generate and interpret clear & concise verbal and written (English) correspondence with line workers, general public, and management so as to accomplish company objectives.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work in Residential Environments
