Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
This position acts as a key resource for conducting pre and post construction activities such as, structure and foundation inspections, connected load analysis, conductor/wire calculations, and measurements.
The duration of the proposed LED Conversion Program is expected to take 7 to 10 years to complete the retrofit of Edison’s current inventory of over 600,000 LS-1 Street and Area lights. This position will be utilized an inventory and mapping resource for addressing various asset discrepancies and corrections. This is a new project in that the group of will include persons from SPM, Supply Chain, Field Accounting, Contract Administration, BCD, LPA, Permits, etc.
Coordinate and execute all field related activities. Examples include: convert clean-up, lamp size validations, material type (i.e. HPSV, LED) discrepancies and other projects.
Coordinating with Field Accounting Organization (FAO), Design Organization, Supply Chain, DPMO Project Managers, external vendors for the ordering, delivery and staging of all material related to the Capital projects - Steel Pole Replacement Program, LED Proactive Replacement Program, AB719 Tariff Option and Local Government Streetlight Sales Acquisition across the entire service territory.
Validate field data with GIS, SAP and FIM to determine found and/or missing assets before project hand-offs, Project Analysts, Streetlight Bookkeeping Specialists and others.
Performs inspection activities, streetlight conductor load calculations and other conversion project activities.
Acts as a resource for the Steel Pole Replacement Program, field data integrity and billing/mapping issues.
Address customer concerns in a timely manner.
Follow up with Project Managers and other Lead Personnel to accurately identify and notify the proper departments that will address and/or handle the concern.
Performs field validations of the inventory of streetlight assets,providing detailed analysis to streetlight analysts for determination of tariff type, and for correction of asset inventory.
Performs wire measurements for use in the generation of capital replacement work orders.
Advises analysts, bookkeepers, and project managers on streetlight asset and construction methods issues.
3 years of experience in the area of distribution field construction and/or planning.
Must have a valid Driver’s license.
Experience with pole types and verifying Streetlight Maps
Basic knowledge of safe work practices, basic electrical theory, construction/maintenance standards (i.e., GO95 and GO128), methods, techniques, tools, and equipment as they relate to the electric distribution system.
Experience verifying Facilities Inventory Maps (FIM) supporting field process.
Experience verifying field conditions for inventory or map discrepancies.
Experience running reports and tracking information in databases and spreadsheets.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Design Manager (DM), and circuit mapping.
Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
