Become a Principal Manager, Distribution Construction & Maintenance at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for covering the Orange region (Santa Ana, Saddleback, Fullerton & Huntington Districts) to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient planning, installation, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system in support of strategic priorities. You will oversee 400 SCE employees with 6 or more direct reports responsible for the planning, directing, and leading activities to enhance reliability of the system. You will also ensure customer satisfaction through preventing electric service interruptions and minimizing outage times.

  • Provides leadership, models behavior and sets expectations for the 3 core teams in the Orange Region: Local Planning, District & Regional Operations, Resource Planning & Performance team.

  • Manages, trains, and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support and embrace a diverse team of leaders passionate about innovation, change management, and employee development.

  • Develops and implements strategies, policies, business leadership, and oversight to ensure successful planning and safe execution of construction, maintenance and operations work for the overhead and underground electric distribution system for the region.

  • Provides leadership to local planning organization which includes customer requests, capital projects, and maintenance activities of the electrical distribution system in the region.

  • Leads team responsible for all Distribution Line work for construction personnel including the coordination, scheduling and/or supervision of staff. The work is both underground and overhead. The team is engaged in the inspection, construction, removal, maintenance, and emergency restoration of electric distribution facilities, customers’ service facilities, and equipment.

  • Leads resource planning and performance expectations and goals aligned with company objectives, policies, and procedures.

  • Responsible for Capital Overhead and O&M budget adherence and execution.

  • Leads, directs and/or engages with customers, local state and federal agencies and other departments to influence the Company’s positions, perspectives, and responses on regulatory changes and legislative policy.

  • Develops and improves collaborative business relationships with senior leaders in other organizational units to ensure excellent customer service, strong community acceptance and teamwork.

  • Provide leadership during Emergency Restoration activities within the region.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of combined experience managing, and/or supervising an organization, unit, or group and project management.

  • Experience working in utility operations such as planning, inspection, design, engineering, and/or line construction.

The preferred

  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with experience presenting and interacting with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership and various collaborators.

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Performing and/or managing distribution design, construction, maintenance, and/or inspection functions.

  • Project management techniques used to make budget projections, identify, mitigate obstacles, and review and update the scope for interrelated projects.

  • Developing and implementing strategic business plans that have a large impact across organizations and prioritizing pivotal initiatives.

  • Demonstrable experience in employee & public safety oversight.

  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, training and auditable guidelines, policies, practices, organization standards and governmental regulations.

  • Reviewing business forecasts and selecting and developing employees to fill talent gaps.

  • Managing bargaining unit employees including the application of union agreement, and handling labor relations.

You should know

  • This position work mode is on-site. The employee will report to our Santa Ana facility and will require regular travel across the Orange SCE territory and may include overnight stays.
