As a Large Capital Project Contracts Management Advisor for Southern California Edison you will be responsible for developing and issuing RFPs, leading job walks, evaluating proposals, negotiating terms/conditions, and managing contracts. Primary focus is achieving full contract value by receiving a safe, quality service that supports schedule while identifying/delivering savings opportunities. The successful candidate for this high-level individual contributor position will also be expected to provide functional direction and mentor other contract managers.

  • Manages the execution of major projects and contracts that have financial impact and may cross organizational lines.

  • Develops and manages supplier performance through scorecards and client/supplier business reviews.

  • Manages the competitive solicitation, supplier selection, development of contracts, contract language, and associated terms and conditions to ensure appropriate risk mitigation.

  • Facilitates the integration and cohesion of business relationships among organizational units, team members, and external suppliers.

  • Interacts with Category and Contract Managers for continued sourcing success.

  • Maintains consistent interaction with contractors and ensure adherence to contracts.

  • Develops strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, managing information and providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership, facilitation, collaboration, total cost reduction and cost savings while meeting Supplier Diversity goals.

  • Assess work activities for consolidation opportunities.

  • Assess best work practices and technological fit.

  • Performs analysis supporting the resolution of risk issues and gap identification.

  • Develop, implement and execute change management strategies. Responsible for understanding, interpreting, and applying business tools (financial, logistical, commercial, risk, and cost analysis) to attain desired results.

  • Accountable for delivering on category savings and SLA targets.

  • Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


The essentials

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in procurement and or contract management.

  • Experience developing RFPs, negotiating terms and conditions, evaluating proposals, negotiating statements of work, awarding, and administering complex construction services related contracts (e.g., oil, gas, electrical utility, highways, engineering, large capital projects, aerospace).

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Effectively use PC software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point) as well as Ariba and SAP systems, modules, and platforms, including Supplier Portal. Working understanding of contract service requirements and supply chain processes used to support them.

  • Experience with services contracts (e.g., engineer-procure-construct, lump sum, fixed unit price, and Time & Equipment).

  • Experience presenting recommendations and other communications regularly to all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with Supply Chain processes and supporting activities.

  • Experience with purchasing practices and policies.

  • Experience with procurement contracts, agreements, and terms and conditions.

  • Experience executing projects to completion on an independent basis.

  • Experience working effectively within a team environment.

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, formal correspondence and contractual documentation, group facilitation, and negotiations.

The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
