In Customer Care, we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers. Everything we do starts with the customer and our information about the customer. Within Customer Care, PG&E’s Customer Energy Solutions department (CES) is responsible for designing, implementing and administering customer demand side management (DSM) programs; including energy efficiency, demand response, clean energy, and rate programs that help PG&E’s customers in Northern and Central California manage the energy use of their homes and businesses. PG&E has been a national leader in energy efficiency since 1976 and continues to recruit and develop individuals to carry the CES Department’s legacy of effective demand side management programs on into the future.
Within CES, Measurement, Data Analytics and Products (MDAP) organization works collaboratively with the aforementioned CES organizations and supports teams focused on Energy Efficiency product and program management, customer programs management, related product and program sales and marketing, data and energy management products, and other organizations within PG&E. MDAP operationalizes an internal advanced analytics and solutions consultation team focus the following types of analyses:
Descriptive: reporting, dashboard developing, ad-hoc queries
Prescriptive: optimization, targeting
Strategic: policy analysis, business cases, benchmarking, market research
Past projects include:
Developed Tableau-based Energy Efficiency reporting dashboards
Built cost-benefit business cases to evaluate existing products or new project ideas
Forecasted market potential and adoption for DSM technologies and services
Analyzed customer demographic, program participation and Smart Meter interval data to build program-targeting propensity models
Within Measurement, Data Analytics and Products is a Customer Solutions Analysts team. The Senior-level Strategic Analyst will be part of a unique team of motivated Data Practitioners leading functional engagements and business analysis consultations to drive for industry leading data analytics, algorithm designs, and data inferences result in achieving business intelligence insights and recommendations to better service PG&E’s customers.
As a member of the team, you would primarily focus on utilizing relationships to CES line of businesses and support big data analytical life cycle needs. Once a project is identified, you would help to develop project scopes and complete project management related tasks including final presentations. As part of a collaborative matrix organization, MDAP team members may serve as the project manager on one project, a technical lead on another, or provide full support independently.
Bachelor’s Degree in Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
4 years of related experience to include data analytics and statistical inference
Knowledge of data model design philosophies and methodologies for data warehouse
Ability to manipulate data within hardware, software, or databases as needed to perform at the job level
Ability to file, store, retrieve and maintain data stored on computers and databases as needed to perform at the job level
Knowledge of statistical theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and analyses as needed to perform at the job level
Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools - for example SQL (Oracle/Teradata), Python, R, Tableau, SAS – as needed to perform at the job level
Ability to develop reports, models, and simulations as needed to perform at the job level
Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
Scoping and Project planning
Work with internal stakeholders to understand business, regulatory, and policy needs
Solve complex problems though working with diverse teams at PG&E
