Position Specific Description

NextEra Mobility is focused on accelerating fleet electrification by offering integrated solutions spanning EV charging, renewables, resiliency, vehicle conversion and fleet as a service. The Clean Energy Solutions Lead will lead a team responsible for modeling electricity costs and clean energy solutions for mobility projects nationwide. This role will enable the deployment of a nationwide charging network for commercial electric vehicles and H2 fuel cell vehicles, and will directly impact our goal of aggressively growing our mobility position.

In this role, you will bottom-line electricity cost modeling efforts from site identification/evaluation through project approval. In this role, you will work with solar/storage and site load analysts, and will collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will work closely with the land prospecting team to understand business needs and with the distributed generation team and energy analytics team to transition projects into detailed design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bottom-lining relationship with utility to identify applicable electricity rate for charging station and model expected cost, in collaboration with solar/storage analyst and Clean Energy Solutions Lead

  • Work with site load analyst, solar/storage analyst, product team, and other business units to model optimized energy solution for highway charging / fleet electrification sites

  • Collaborating with internal teams across NEER and the customer to evaluate optimal energy solution for charging station with an eye towards deployment; leverage adjacent software for utility bill calculations, solar/storage sizing, etc.

  • Combine expected truck load and clean energy solution into synthesized energy cost and clean energy solution offering

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical skills

  • Applied techno-economic analysis in the clean energy space

  • Robust modeling skills in Excel and/or Python, or ideally both

  • Some experience with Python or a similar programming language

  • Content — significant familiarity with:

  • Electricity cost modeling:

  • Regulated electric utility rates, and/or

  • Retail energy providers and deregulated energy markets

  • Net metering

  • Outstanding communication skills (written/verbal), attention to detail, and creative problem-solving

  • Self-motivation and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to adapt and re-prioritize as necessary

  • Deeper Python skills – for leveraging adjacent software in replicable ways, simulating fleet charging behavior, etc

  • Familiarity with some or all of the following: distributed solar and storage, net metering, community solar, RECs, virtual power purchase agreements, renewables-based resiliency

  • Familiarity with electric vehicles/charging and/or diesel vehicle fleet operations

  • Familiarity with telematics data and/or GIS analysis

  • Experience with projects going to deployment
