Department Overview

The HR Employee Relations team supports the organization by serving as the initial point of advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in the areas of employee relations, performance management, and employee discipline. Team members also provide interpretation of related HR policies, procedures and practices. The team identifies and analyzes employee relations trends and makes appropriate recommendations to management.

Position Summary

The Employee Relations Manager will lead a team of skilled HR Consultants responsible for providing employee relations support to the organization. The leader will develop and build processes for a variety of employee relations areas including performance management, conflict resolution and sharing of employment practices.

The leader will ensure the team is skilled at providing advice and counsel in the areas of HR practices, policy and employment laws. The areas of focus include conflict resolution, performance coaching, disciplinary action, and policy interpretation and application. This role requires travel within PG&E’s service territory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of experienced HR Consultants and collaborate with the HRBP team, and business to address employee relations matters.

  • Expand the ER capability for the organization to deliver proactive ER initiatives, and drive consistency and efficiency.

  • Create and drive the implementation of Employee Relations strategies, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Partner with COEs to identify requirements for a case management tool and support implementation and rollout

  • Create insights from data to inform process and program improvements, and share findings with key partners identify trends and recommend interventions.

  • Create and facilitate formal and informal HR training on employee relations matters such as performance counseling, harassment and discrimination;

  • Assist in the development, implementation or rollout of new policies and procedures related to ER

  • Provide excellent leadership, direction and guidance to HR Consultant team including supporting professional development.

  • Collaborate with HRBP leadership to advance HR program execution

Qualifications

Minimum:

========

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum eight years of progressive relevant experience as an HR Generalist with responsibilities ranging from employee relations, employee development and leadership coaching

  • Experience leading an Employee Relations function

  • Experience building a new organization and associated change management

  • Leadership experience as demonstrated by leading and developing HR professionals

  • Strong communication and consultation skills

  • Strong relationship management skills

  • Experience working in a unionized labor environment

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.

  • Solid knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws
