Expert IT Product Specialist, Infrastructure & Operations – Flexible Location
Information Technology (IT) is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions.
The role of the IT Product Specialist is to manage the entire lifecycle of assigned IT product(s) or service(s). Major responsibilities include collaborating with key stakeholders in the selection process, developing detailed system designs from requirements, contract management, vendor management, capacity management, contributing to future direction and roadmaps, escalated support and product consulting, and documentation.
Implementation experience of Software AG Alfabet product
Understanding of Enterprise Architecture and Application Portfolio Management
Hands-on experience of Alfabet
deployment & system configurations / administration
LDAP based integration for user authentication
Understanding of Alfabet base meta-model
Customization of data model, Wizards, Cockpits, Guidepages
Creation of Custom Reports
Creation of Custom Indicators for Application Rationalization purposes
ADIF scripting for data Load
Alfabet implementation using Oracle as backend database is a plus
Knowledge of infrastructure components such as Load Balancer, Firewalls
Knowledge and experience of integration patterns, REST API

Performs product management duties over a sector of technology products or services or assigned to high profile products or services.
Oversee and manage the continuous product lifecycle from research, planning and implementation to retirement.
Introduce new innovative solutions that enhance the existing capabilities of the product(s) or service(s). Develop methods of automation and optimization.
Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity.
Be a technical leader. Mentors and develops internal training programs on the targeted product(s) or service(s).
IT PRODUCT ANALYSIS
Partner with peers in the accountable planning organization to develop the strategic vision and understand how it applies to the targeted products or services.
Understand the industry’s product positioning, the product’s key benefits, and the product’s targeted users. Partner close with the vendor to influence the product’s future capabilities.
Partner with the accountable planning organization to research new market technologies and make recommendations that are aligned with the Company’s vision and values.
Be a Subject Matter Expert for the assigned products or services that is recognized both internally and externally of PG&E. Demonstrate full technical competence within the in-depth areas of computing or network.
Understand and analyze a project’s business and technical requirements. Provide guidance and recommendations for gaps in the requirements.
Leveraging targeted IT products or services, lead sessions with peers to translate requirements into a detailed solution design that teams can leverage to properly deploy and implement.
Document design specifications, installation instructions, configuration manuals, procedure manuals, and other system-related information.
Have a thorough understanding of IT project and planning methodologies. Contribute to the enhancement of PG&E’s IT project and planning methodologies.
Span multiple technologies and areas in order to be able to provide accurate project timelines, complete labor and materials cost estimates to the project.
Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of system architecture.
Manage and lead multiple cross-functional projects as well as providing guidance to peers on other projects
Manage the enterprise wide technical capacity for targeted
IT products or services.
Work with projects to determine the best use of existing technology capacity for resource allocation.
Partner with key stakeholders to determine and understand future technology capacity.
Analyze areas of opportunities to optimize costs of IT products or services.
Engage with the product’s vendor to manage the process to request additional units including working with projects needing new product contracts and licenses.
Perform contract management and be responsible for understanding and complying with the product’s existing maintenance contracts and/or licenses.
Work closely with IT professionals to troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues.
Drive conventions and standards (such as usage or configuration) across multiple products to maximize user experience.
Be a third-tier support specialist to other IT professionals for escalated operational issues.
VENDOR TECHNICAL LIAISON
Participate in business, technical, and contract negotiations with vendors.
Act as a conduit for vendor relationship, licensing, and incident management.
An advocate for business unit and IT operational clients to ensure business requirements are cost effective and needs are met.
Provide budget support to IT professionals and stakeholders.
Contributes to a variety of documentation such as strategies, plans, designs, usage or configuration standards, policies, guidelines, user requirements, roadmaps, reports, metrics, process manuals, configuration manuals, and other documentation specific and necessary for the targeted product or service.
Produce technical business plans for the assigned department and technical area.
BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience
8 years Software Development\IT Tools experience
Experience working with Application Portfolio and Architecture Support tools such as Software AG Alfabet and Aris tools
MS/MBA in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience
10+ years of relevant technical experience
Known in the IT Industry related to the targeted products
Experience working at a Utility Company
