We are hiring a BESS O&M Manager to lead a team of 2-5 BESS O&M Technicians to support its growing fleet of stand-alone battery energy storage facilities. This Manager will work closely with internal business partners, third party service providers, AES CE field services teams and customers in the coordination, management and delivery of O&M support to the BESS operating fleet.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead of a team of AES CE BESS Technicians

  • Own the delivery of services under comprehensive third-party Long Term Service Agreements

  • Tracking and driving both preventative and corrective maintenance activities

  • In close coordination with AES CE O&M Engineering supervise the BESS facilities for optimal operational performance

  • Lead or support the development of system operation & maintenance training and related Standard Operating Procedures

  • Support O&M Director and Portfolio Asset Managers in developing annual budgets and monthly variance analysis reporting

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field preferred. Experience working with industrial electrical systems is fundamental and may compensate for some formal education experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Operations, Engineering, or Construction, preferred

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and SCADA systems a plus.

  • Ability to coordinate work while coaching and mentoring

  • Conduct or support root cause analysis (RCA) of asset, inverter and module faults and failures

  • Support and conduct activities in respect of AES CE’s NERC Operations and Planning programs and procedures, and other requirements as projects are approaching COD and during site upgrades/changes

  • Exceptional interpersonal, decision making/problem solving, analytical skills.

  • Strong learning skills with a technical ability to independently research, understand, and implement knowledge in new areas

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, think out of the box, and establish collaborative relationships with colleagues and contractors

Working Conditions:

  • Located in Salt Lake City, UT; Louisville, CO; Southern California; or Phoenix Metro area.Remote locations near major airport may be acceptable.

  • Regular travel will be required to support O&M activities at the BESS facilities. Approximately 25% travel.
