General Purpose

Provides advice and counsel to management and client organizations. Conducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Sr. Finance Accounting Analyst are:

•Assist in the, preparation of quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports.

•Summarize monthly financial transactions

•Process internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

•Analyze and reconcile general ledger data including preparing journal entries.

•Assist in response to data requests from auditors, regulation, and other ad hoc assignments.

•Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, business processes, and contract activities..

•Perform physical inventory test counts and other procedures for major warehouse locations in compliance with internal control requirements and report results to senior management.

•Develop operational knowledge over control center activities.

*Track maintenance and capital work for settlement on joint-owner assets.

In addition, responsibilities of the Mid-Level Fin/Acctg Specialist are:

•Represent the company in meetings and proceedings with senior management and regulatory Commissions.

•Analyze, prepare and interpret quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports and monthly Financial & Operating statements.

•Implement and manage internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

•Review business agreements and ensure proper financial reporting.

•Plan and direct company-wide activities related to researching accounting issues and documenting determinations in technical accounting memos.

In addition, responsibilities of the Sr. level Specialist position include:

•Design and implement policies and practices for the Finance/Accounting group. Collaborate with information technology team to automate tasks.

•Acts as the top subject matter expert for a business unit.

•Develop new processes and procedures that impact the business.

•Develop metrics and report on quality and accuracy of internal control processes.

•Monitor compliance with internal and external auditor recommendations.

•Identify areas of potential risk and propose process improvements and innovations.

•Report the company’s performance relative to compliance requirements to senior management.

•Review business unit procedures and ensure compliance with risk management policies.

Requirements

Requirements for the Sr. Finance/Accounting Analyst are:

•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

•A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field with strong data gathering, analysis, interpretation, trending, and modeling.

•A strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

•Experience in financial analysis.

•Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.

•Knowledge of applicable Company policies and procedures; applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations.

•Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model information.

•Communication and interpersonal skills including ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.

•Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to present alternatives and recommendations.

•Proficient with the use of personal computers to gather, analyze, and summarize data especially excel and prior experience with financial accounting systems.

•Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, procedures, practices, and applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations.

In addition, requirements for the Mid-Level Fin/Acctg Specialist position are:

•Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.

•Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.

In addition, the requirements for the Sr. Level Fin/Acctg Specialist are:

•A minimum of seven years experience in accounting or a related field.

•Demonstrated proficiency in the performance of advanced accounting methodologies and procedures.

•Demonstrated understanding of risk metrics.

•Proven ability to review policies and procedures and determine validity and develop process to ensure ongoing compliance.

•Ability to develop, document, implement and enforce processes and procedures.

•Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and give direction to internal and external customers regarding highly complex accounting matters/issues.

Preferences

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.

  • eneral understanding of FERC Code of Regulations.

  • Experience in fixed asset accounting and depreciation theory and practices.

  • Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.

  • General understanding of utility economics and accounting, as well as utility commission rules and regulations.

  • 2+ years experience in public accounting or working at a publicly-traded company.

  • Experience working with legal contracts and ability to interpret and apply contractual language.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15% of salary.
