Here’s what YOU will do:

The first level, “Corrosion Technician I” is an entry level position in the Enbridge’s Trades Job Family. The primary focus of this role is to take on duties that develop the incumbent’s core / fundamental skills and knowledge of the area in which they are working and apply them in a safe manner.

Working under the direct supervision of Senior Corrosion Technicians and the Region Corrosion Supervisor, the Corrosion Technician acquires a working knowledge and performs the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducts electrical surveys to ensure adequate cathodic protection.

  • Conducts atmospheric corrosion inspections.

  • Performs electrical isolation tests.

  • Maintains cathodic protection and monitoring equipment.

  • Identifies pipe, valves and fittings as to size and wall thickness using mechanical or electronic measurement devices.

  • Completes reports accurately and completely.

  • Directs other employees in the performance of routine corrosion-related activities.

  • Recognizes and reacts to abnormal conditions associated with duties.

  • Assists in planning work and contributing budget related information as required, consistent with the annual budgeting process.

  • Consistently works in a safe, responsible manner and actively participates in safety related programs.

  • Actively participates as a work group team member and maintains a cooperative work relationship with fellow employees.

  • Performs work in compliance with Company policies/procedures as well as external regulatory bodies, such as the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.

  • Performs all duties as assigned.

Who YOU are:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.

  • Minimal directly relevant training and experience.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding activities in all types of weather conditions.

  • Residency Requirement: Must reside within 30 Miles of the assigned reporting location.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, shift, be on call and standby, and travel overnight as required.

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding activities in all types of weather conditions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Possesses the desire to learn and advance, as a Corrosion Technician.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training, formal education, and/or experience.

  • Able to work independently with little direction.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.

  • Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.

  • Working knowledge of operations used in the maintenance of these facilities.

  • AMPP (formerly NACE) certification(s) in corrosion control are a plus in filling this position.

  • Proficient in the use of standard office software applications.

  • Able to work and contribute to a team environment where inclusiveness, integrity, honestly and openness are valued.

  • Proven ability to drive and perform job safely.

  • Innovative problem solver without compromising SOPs.

  • Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in typical office environment with some required field work

  • Scheduled travel is up to 25% of the time going to Enbridge offices and field locations

  • Available outside normal work hours to address any technical, cost, safety and environmental issues that occur during active projects

  • Company paid international relocation is not offered for this role.

Physical Requirements:

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying ( up to 50 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
