Xcel Energy Contract Resource Coordinator Job in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Coordinates damage prevention operations (gas and electric distribution, gas and electric transmission and telecommunications) for all company owned buried facilities. Serves as liaison between Xcel Energy's internal and external excavating customers, Governmental agencies, claims departments and Xcel Energy's contract resources performing facility locate functions. Responsible for development, coordination and presentation of various informational programs to the excavating communities. Works in conjunction with others within Xcel Energy to develop and report performance indicators with reference to our contractor labor.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitors work of contractor to ensure facilities are marked in compliance with state law and that Xcel Energy's policies, procedures and standards are met. Coordinates the scheduling and completion of work assigned to contract resources within geographic and functional area of responsibility. Monitors work of contractor to ensure work is performed on time and all dead lines are met. Support the achievement of the Managed Business Relationship and maintain cost per unit goal relative to budget. Validates and approves contractor invoices.

  • Apply expertise and technical knowledge to resolve problems. Perform job inspections as need to substantiate quality service is provided. Responds to customer inquiries with regard to industry best practices.

  • Company liaison between Damage Prevention Department customer base and contract resources to ensure that the service provided is complete and accurate and that any issues are promptly resolved.. Resolves field conflicts to satisfaction customer and contractor concerns and complaints.

  • Maintain and report key performance indicators (KPIs) on each supplier on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual basis, as needed. Explain and report performance standards.

  • Works with Xcel, State, County, Municipal, and other facility owners to ensure excavations community is aware of industry best practices and applicable one-call policies and procedures. This includes coordination and attendance of various trade shows and seminars. Works closely with these agencies on an as need basis.


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (6 years related experience may substitute for the degree)

  • 5 years damage prevention, claims and/or field operations experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas and electric distribution systems

  • Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contractual agreements and coordinating contract resources

  • Knowledge of industry practices, including locating techniques and procedures

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialized computer software (e.g., IRTH and Passport, etc.)

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $54,800 to $77,800 per year
