Summary

Spire is seeking a Sustainability, Lead to function as technical subject matter expert in building, managing, and implementing the Company’s sustainability data and strategy .

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collects and evaluates data for measurement, tracking and reporting for GHG emissions from all Spire business operations. Including:

  • Emissions modeling, quantification, and forecasting.

  • Validation and verification according to recognized standards.

  • Provides expertise to functional and business unit leadership to identify opportunities for emissions reductions. Measures and reports emissions reductions and assists business units in implementation of mitigation strategies.

  • Identifies and develops opportunities for Spire functional and business unit leadership to offset emissions from operations. Provides guidance and assistance to functional and business unit leadership to implement targeted opportunities.

  • Establishes and administers process for Corporate Greenhouse Gas Inventory to meet requirements of internal and external audit processes.

  • Manages GHG inventory reporting to meet standards for:

  • Management reporting, board reporting,

  • Sustainability Report and supporting GRI data,

  • Natural Gas Sustainability Initiative (NGSI) reporting

  • One Future Reporting

  • Other federal, state, or local reporting, as required.

  • Works with functional and business unit leadership to develop data tracking and reporting mechanisms to accommodate current and new reporting streams, as required by management or other regulatory bodies.

  • Administers carbon credits for all business units, including administration of EPA accounts and coordination of business unit activities with carbon credit vendors (i.e.. Anew.)

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor's Degree, required.

  • Graduate degree, preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing and preparing corporate reporting of emissions and/or offsets.

  • 10+ years progressive experience required, ideally including roles in utility operations, engineering, and/or compliance management or reporting.

  • Experience in environmental science, emissions tracking, analysis, and reporting, and/or implementation of environmental/renewable measures, preferred.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Hybrid/flexible work arrangement is available.

  • On site work is normally performed in a shared office environment.

  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Occasional after- hours work may be required.
