PG&E's Vegetation Management department manages 3,500 PG&E employees and contractors, including experts educated and trained in arboriculture; more than 300 have International Society of Arboriculture certifications. Primary objectives are to ensure public safety, system reliability and regulatory compliance by managing vegetation on about 81,000 of overhead distribution line and about 18,000 miles of transmission line across PG&E service area.
The position is a member of the Quality Programs (QP) team within the Vegetation Management program in Electric Asset Management. The QP team performs quality system reviews and process/ compliance audits in Vegetation Management verifying conformance to applicable standards, procedures, and regulations while driving continual improvement and Utility Vegetation Management Excellence. The team also monitors contractor conformance to contracts, standards, and procedures to help ensure public safety and electric system reliability and is charged with maintaining internal Standards and Procedures. This position will provide support for up to four contractors that perform data collection in the field. Additionally, this position will be responsible to identify gaps and ensure the right corrective actions are put in place to mitigate risk.
The work location is flexible to include the following counties: Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Mendocino, Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Sonoma, Lake, Collusa, Sutter, Yuba, Nevada, Napa, Yolo, Sacramento, Eldorado, Marin, Solano, Placer, and Contra Costa
• Associates degree in Policy, Management, Risk, Business, Environmental, Forestry, or related discipline or equivalent experience
• 3 years of related work experience (i.e. risk, compliance, audit, operations)
• Experience in Vegetation Management
• ASQ Certified Quality Auditor
• Previous Supervisory experience
• Certified Arborist (International Society for Arboriculture)
• Utility Specialist (International Society for Arboriculture)
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and principles
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification
• Utility experience, including general knowledge of the utility industry and utility operations in a regulatory environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for all levels of organization
• Project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities to completion.
• Ability to engage appropriate SMEs in problem solving teams
• Ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines while delivering high quality work products
• Accomplished in the use of MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Access.
Performs as lead auditor/Team Leader in Procedure /Process/System type audits and reviews
Develops procedure/process audit plans, including information and data gathering, interview schedule, site visit schedule, associated logistics, and other audit related activities.
Prepares audit work package including audit work documents, checklists, sampling plan, forms, and related documents.
Collects, verifies, and analyzes information relevant to audit objectives, scope and criteria, including information relative to interfaces between functions, activities, and processes.
Conducts review of regulations, standards, procedures, records, data, and other documents relevant to audit scope, objectives, and criteria.
Evaluates audit evidence relative to audit criteria to determine audit findings, including identification of opportunities for improvement.
Communicates progress of the audit as appropriate.
Develops written audit reports describing audit findings, observations, and trends for client and management
Broad knowledge of vegetation management concepts, practices, and methods.
Good oral and written communication skills to effectively deal with various levels and types of stakeholders.
Advanced knowledge of technical/professional audit and quality concepts.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office tools.
Able to present audit results to the audit client, audited organization, and senior management.
Ability to perform cause analysis.
Advanced knowledge of internal regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma processes.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels including senior management to communicate audit findings.
