Integrates maintenance services and site project activities into plant operations to ensure safe and reliable cost efficient operation.
Provides organizational guidance, direction, leadership, and planning for all maintenance services and site project activities. Provides overall direction, planning and performance of Maintenance services departmental cost activities to ensure achievement of budget goals. Identifies Maintenance services departmental training needs, contract support, budget needs, and provides oversight for departmental corrective action, training, and work activities.
Fosters an environment of continuous improvement in Human Performance, Industrial Safety and Radiological performance.
Ensures proper selection, training and qualification of personnel including exposure to other departments. Provides and maintains administrative systems and procedures to effectively execute and document activities in accordance with company policies, and goals and in accordance with all pertinent regulations, permits, licenses, and the quality assurance program.
Directs changes in equipment, procedures, and operations as necessary to achieve optimum plant and personnel performance. Coordinates activities with other departments to minimize plant downtime and maximize power generation.
Controls departmental cost through maximization of staff productivity, review of union contracts, and tracking expenditures within budget parameters. Routinely reviews plant facilities. May represent the department at plant meetings to discuss and resolve matters effecting nuclear plant safety, industrial safety, radiological safety, and environmental conditions.
May interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities.
Minimum education required of the position
- B.S. in Engineering or a related technical degree or equivalent experience. (Equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Superintendent level.)
Minimum experience required of the position
- 6 years of commercial nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, engineering, or security experience in the related discipline. 2 years previous supervisory experience. Refueling outage experience in I&C Maintenance area.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Technical proficiency in I&C. Ability to gather data, make recommendations and decisions for complex problems. Broad technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Familiar with company policies and procedures. Proficiency with current computer based applications.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
SRO or certification on BWR or PWR (desired). Candidates for this position must meet requirements specified in ANSI/ANS Standards and Regulatory Guidelines. In addition, site Technical Specifications, FSAR, or procedures may contain additional requirements. Hiring Managers are required to submit attachment 9.1 from EN-HR-137 for anycandidate selected for this job. Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.4.2 – Instrument and Control: 5 years of I&C experience; 1 year of the experience shall be in nuclear instrumentation and control at an operating nuclear power plant; a minimum of 2 years of the 5 years experience shall be related technicaltraining; related technical or academic training may fulfill a maximum of 4 years of the 5 years.
