Become a Technical Document Controls Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this position, you will manage and maintain documents and drawings for the Generation OU. You will be responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues with the electronic and physical document storage repositories including accurate classification, retention, and disposition of records. You will assist the implementation of document and drawing programs at the field locations of Generation OU and will collaborate with the client to support their document and drawing needs. This includes training the users with the document and drawings tools and supporting functions. You will be expected to travel to field locations of Eastern and Western operation departments to manage on-site document and drawings as well as support the gap analysis process to resolve the document and drawing concerns and will assist in developing the recommendations for the optimum solutions.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Routine Support – Electronic Document management in eDMRM, supporting clients for its functionality and validating the folder structure according to Record Management policy for new or old documents. Ensure accurate classification and retention is applied to the records. Execute in-depth analysis and research to resolve the data/document requests. Maintain inventory of Generation drawings in Corporate Drawing Management system (CDM). Be fully responsible to control the check-in and out process of the drawings in CDM. Provide drawing support to the engineering projects, by searching them in CDM with the technical expertise, coordinating with vendors for their drawing needs and ensuring a complete and accurate turnover in alignment with CAD standards. Maintain physical records on site and manage Generation’s Box inventory at Corporate Record Center. Perform record disposition process on the yearly box list provided by Information Governance.

  • DRM Programs/Process Support – Support electronic document management program, including migration and implementation of electronic document management system, eDMRM. Support Drawing Management Process for the health and integrity of drawing inventory.

  • Project Support for documents and Drawings - Provide drawing support to the engineering projects, by searching them in CDM, coordinating with vendors for their drawing needs and ensuring a complete and accurate turnover in alignment with SCE CAD standards. Support drawing standardization projects managed by DRM manager. Create drawing indexes for the projects and maintain the master index for each facility. Gain knowledge and get acquainted with SCE CAD Standard and the Generation Guidelines in managing and maintaining drawing inventory.

  • Policy and Procedure Support - Maintain the eDMRM library which houses policies and procedures for Generation. Support the periodic review process and standardization of the documents. Ensure the current procedures are available on the portal via eDMRM meta data linkages.

  • Corporate Initiatives – Attend, support, help develop and implement Corporate Record Management initiatives throughout Generation.


The essentials

  • 3 years of experience in Records Management and analyzing data.

  • eDMRM, Power Automation or any extended content management experience.

  • Experience interpreting Engineering drawings using CAD standards.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience in developing project schedule, timelines, presentation, Scope of work and deliverables

  • Microsoft office (word, PowerPoint and excel)

  • Experience presenting technical information to a non-technical audience as well as to Senior Leadership

  • Experience collaborating with external vendors to share project information

  • Experience using KOFAX scanning software

  • Experience with the specific business line documents

You should know

  • When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Travel will be required as needed to Generation asset locations including Catalina, Big Creek, Bishop, Kernville, Kaweah, etc.
