Position Overview:

The System/Data Analytics Specialist role will provide technical support in conducting infrastructure impact assessments for known and emergency hazards in the SCE service territory.You willprovide technical support to program managers and operational groups by conducting, analyzing and displaying results of impact assessments to operational group. Example projects would include seasonal weather/impact assessments, assessments of emergency threats, and supporting analytics and assessments needed during and following IMT activation. Tasks will range from overlaying and analyzing data in GIS to technical support in the development of damage models, statistical analysis.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Conducts assessments and analyzes hazard and infrastructure data to identify system impacts using GIS, statistical analysis packages/tools, and/or advance excel macros.

  • Development of damage models using statistical analysis, using the R coding Language.

  • Solving business problems through technical analysis of data

  • Update existing damage models. Using the R coding Language.

  • Trouble shoot client issue with BR technology

  • You will use Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS) tools for statistical analysis and forecasting

  • You will work with internal stakeholders in strategic oversight in developing internal policies

  • Communicating with technical and non-technical program managers and operational groups to identify appropriate analytical approaches and display results in a simple and operationally useful manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Five years of experience with data using tools such as GIS, statistical packages/tools and analytical models

  • Experience with programs such as SQL, Access, Business Objects, Excel, Word, and ArcGIS for desktop.

  • Experience conducting assessments and data analytics

  • Experience using tools such as GIS, excel/macros, and/or statistical analysis packages/tools (i.e. At Risk, SAS etc) that support modeling and analysis requirements

  • Experience in ArcGIS online environment, create webmaps and perform ad-hoc analysis

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Statistical Analysis, Data/program sciences, computer science, in statistics, mathematics, economics, safety or other quantitative field preferred.

  • Experience in hazard and impacts assessments and development of predictive models a plus.

  • 2+ years working in or with utility sector.

  • Knowledge of electrical utility terminology and functions

  • Experience designing and implement damage assessment and threat models using the R coding language.

  • Ability to manage and extra data from geodatabase (Oracle, SQL, SAP, ESRI enterprise and other database formats.

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead with occasional work in Irwindale.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
