Position Overview

As a Sourcing Manager/Technical Purchasing Advisor for Southern California Edison you will be supporting, developing and executing category and sourcing strategies for the Indirect Procurement group within Supply Management. The Indirect Procurement group manages over $1.2 billion in annual spend for Information Technology, Customer Service, Professional Services, and Consulting Services. It’s challenging but rewarding work. Your interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills will be fully exercised as you manage a variety of strategies that focus on value creation, cost savings, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining data analytics pertaining to the development and optimization of category strategy and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Sourcing Manager/Technical Purchasing Advisor you will be the lead for business unit engagement to collaboratively plan and implement procurement strategies that support short and long term business needs. You will also have responsibility for competitive solicitation, supplier selection, achievement of applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), contract negotiation and development.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Lead, contracting and procurement functions of the Indirect Procurement organization and special projects

  • Own OU relationships at senior and executive levels within assigned business unit(s) and leads portfolio reviews with business unit leadership to collaboratively plan and execute effective strategic sourcing strategies.

  • Manage the execution of programs or contracts that have financial impact and may cross organizational lines.

  • Negotiate contractual terms and other related commercial items to ensure Edison receives the best value possible while mitigating potential risk factors.

  • Maintain consistent interaction with suppliers and ensures adherence to established contracts.

  • Integrate work across relevant areas, developing strategies to enhance productivity, manage information and provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assess work activities for consolidation opportunities.

  • Assess best work practices and technological fit Performs analysis supporting the resolution of risk issues and gap identification.

  • Develop metrics to monitor area of responsibility, gaps and implementing action plans to remediate

  • Develop, implement and execute change management strategies.

  • Executes Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Request for Proposals across various categories.

  • Lead contract management and supplier dispute resolution.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seven years of experience in supply chain or contract management.

  • Five years of experience negotiating contracts and/or end-user licensing agreements.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Master’s Degree (MA, MS, MBA).

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Experience with complex and back-office services contracts.

  • Ability to present recommendations and other communications regularly to all levels of the organization.

  • Experience of Supply Chain processes and supporting activities.

  • Experience of purchasing practices and policies.

  • Experience of procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions.

  • Make decisions relating to various supply chain activities on a daily basis in office and field locations.

  • Experience with Ariba and SAP.

  • Execute projects to completion on an independent basis.

  • Work effectively within a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, formal correspondence and contractual documentation, group facilitation, and negotiations.
