The Senior Solutions Architect position resides in the Enterprise Architecture Planning Strategy department within Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Information Technology organization. The successful candidate will be accountable for driving technology solutions across the Enterprise technology portfolio to help lower cost of ownership of core systems such as SAP ECC, Click Schedule, improve customer engagement channels like SCE.com, SAP Hybris or Pega Systems, and increase SCE operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Leads in the operating unit/portfolio business capabilities maturity assessment and translates new business needs into solution architecture requirements, defines multiple solution options to new and maturing business capabilities and understands the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
Responsible for the development of solution architecture deliverables, approaches and guidance of overall EA solution patterns, guides EA reviews, gains acceptance of solutions and informs key stakeholders of review outcomes.
Provides embedded EA leadership and governance and directs/monitors the work of project resources on strategic programs and projects as well as monitors and guides project resources when/if multiple projects are within a program.
Understands and articulates the proper integration across the enterprise and influences key business stakeholders, process owners, and program and project managers to ensure that program/ project objectives are met while providing a first line of decision making on architectural governance issues.
Educates plans, coordinates and communicates enterprise architectural principles at multiple levels of management including Project/ Program Manager and ensures compliance with Enterprise Architecture governance standard as well as encourages component reuse.
Coordinates with Enterprise Architects to understand the appropriate business/portfolio direction and to ensure that the solution under consideration supports the direction for the business capabilities.
Coordinates with Enterprise Technology Architects to understand the appropriate technology domain strategy and to ensure that the solution under consideration supports the direction for the technology domain as well as identifies, addresses, communicates and documents any deviations from EA standards.
Understands a particular operating unit and associated enabling technology / IT as well as to develop the overall solution leveraging Business, Application, Information, Technology, and Security Architects from the Domains.
Twelve years of combined experience within Information Technology, operations, engineering, enterprise architecture, and/or technical related field.
Client/customer facing experience in a presales engineering or technical consulting role.
Experience working with large Enterprise systems like ERP in a highly complex environment.
Experience in evolving IT services & operating model to enable the efficient and cost effective achievement of client and internal business outcomes in support of the SCE strategy & goals. This includes introducing multi-speed (Bimodal) service delivery, defining self-service systems & services within our operating units, advancing innovation, and maturing our focus on data as a core asset.
Experience working with senior management, executives, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities.
Ability to create high-quality presentations, proposals, statements of work, and assessment deliverables.
Must have knowledge and experience in IT architecture and/or software and systems design/engineering disciplines and practices including industry standard approaches and frameworks.
Experience developing scopes of work, developing and documenting requirements, conceptual designs and project execution strategies within the architecture domains - business, data, applications, and technology.
Demonstrated experience achieving desired outcomes and actions through negotiation and influence.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and must be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs, including the ability to translate technical language into clear business language.
Demonstrated experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
MBA/MA/MS degree in engineering, computer science, information systems or equivalent.
IT solution architecture experience.
Knowledge of TOGAF or other Enterprise Architecture Standards or Frameworks
Knowledge and experience with utility business processes and operations.
Knowledge and/or experience of Enterprise operations, business processes, and systems, including Financial Systems, Contact Management, Work Management, Asset Management, Digital Channel (website).
Knowledge and/or experience of the utility industry business processes and operations.
