The Senior Manager of Health & Wellness will work with the Principal Manager of Benefits & Wellness to provide overall management and direction for Edison’s ongoing, enterprise-wide health & welfare plans and wellness initiatives. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective delivery and administration of programs and policies, vendor management, budgeting, metrics development/implementation and compliance. Participates in determining future plan designs, vendors and approaches to meet strategic objectives. Directly manages a team of 5 professionals and approximately 18 vendor relationships. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the GO onsite Fitness Center (4 employees) and management of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Random Drug Testing Program as well as post-offer drug testing for all candidates hired by SCE.
Evaluates and reviews employee and retiree health, dental, EAP, vision, life, AD&D, business travel accident plans and associated benefits policies to ensure they are being administered as efficiently as possible, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Directly manages a team of 5 professionals and approximately 18 vendor relationships. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the General Office onsite Fitness Center (4 employees) and management of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Random Drug Testing Program as well as post-offer drug testing for all candidates hired by SCE
Accountable for performance of direct and indirect staff including recruitment for vacant positions; training and development; providing ongoing feedback, coaching and support and establishing performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures
Assists in analyzing the overall financial aspect of the benefit administrative vendor relationship, including preparing the annual budget for administrative services. Prepares periodic analysis of actual costs/savings vs. the business case.
Develop, implement and oversee enterprise-wide Wellness strategy and initiatives which includes a broad portfolio of wellness programs and initiatives. Manage program evaluation; continuous improvements, and success measures.
Provide oversite for the onsite Fitness Center which includes the delivery of our injury prevention programs (WRC), wellness programs and challenges, group exercise classes and personal training
Ten or more years of experience in the employee benefits field with demonstrated progressive responsibility for the design, analysis and communication of Wellness and Health and Welfare plans.
Five or more years of experience managing, supervising, and/or leading a corporate benefits work group to achieve results with the ability to assess staffing needs, either on a permanent or temporary basis, develop employees to help them achieve career objectives and fill talent gaps to ensure that succession plans are in place.
Five or more years of experience administering the various laws and regulations affecting benefit plans, such as ERIA, COBRA, HIPAA, PPA and ACA.
Three or more years of experience with the health care delivery system, including contracting and funding approaches and roles of plans, medical groups and other providers.
Three or more years of experience designing, evaluating and implementing a comprehensive array of benefit offerings to meet corporate goals and objectives.
Three or more years of experience achieving short- and long-term objectives through self and others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of projects, and ensuring accountability for timely results within budget parameters.
CEBS, SPHR professional designation(s)
Knowledge of DOT drug testing regulations, protocols and policies
Must interface effectively with clients, direct reports, vendors, corporate officers and other managers to provide solutions to issues and help integrate business processes across departments and business units.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to understand and appropriately respond to customer’s needs and/or appeals timely, establish trust and credibility with client organizations and facilitate the presentation of recommendations.
Effective at utilizing metrics to build business case for change and process improvement
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Three or more years of experience managing outsourced benefits administration vendors and multiple health and welfare carriers.
Three or more years of experience with project management techniques and approaches. Must have strong process management and analytical skills.
Three or more years of experience in the financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and benefits accounting for benefit plans
Experience developing, implementing and applying functional metrics and using them to drive performance improvement.
