The five Finance operating departments ensure that SCE meets or exceeds safety, affordability, and compliance standards. Controllers is the largest division of the Finance department and we pay the bills, close the books, provide earnings, deliver analysis of critical transactions, and explain accounting concepts company-wide.

Position Overview

As a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist, you are responsible for supporting the external reporting of the Company, including but not limited to Federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) quarterly and annual filings, benefit plans filings, California Public Utilities Commissions (CPUC) annual filings, Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) filings, Energy Information Administration reporting, trust filings, etc. You will also provide accounting guidance related to transactions and disclosures to ensure conformity with GAAP and support the analysis performed for the monthly management reporting.

Typical responsibilities would include:

  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reports filed with the SEC and FERC including analyzing all supporting disclosure data and review of XBRL tagging.

  • Plan and prepare other external financial reports.

  • Assist in the analysis of financial information to support the monthly management reporting package.

  • Assist in the implementation of new disclosures, perform research on accounting issues, document guidance and present conclusions to senior management.

  • Identify areas for improvement in the current process, implement changes and provide consultation to the senior management on business issues identified as part of improvements.

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience with interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.

  • Five (5) or more years' experience in the field of accounting and/or reporting.

Desired Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant

  • Experience with:

  • Audit practice in a public accounting firm.

  • Performing variance analysis.

  • Complying with SOX controls.

  • SEC reporting

  • Accounting for Employee Benefits

  • Leading cross-functional projects

  • Knowledge of regulated companies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially using Microsoft Excel and creating VLOOKUP Formulas and Pivot Tables

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate accounting issues and business processes.

  • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations.

  • Ability to work in a team setting and across functions and departments in analyzing information developing information and solutions.

  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Primary work location: Rosemead, California.
