You will be leading and developing high impact sourcing strategies for the Distribution Line Construction Category, within the Direct Services Procurement team. You'll also be the lead for business unit engagement to collaboratively plan and implement procurement strategies to support business needs. The Distribution Line Construction Category significantly contributes to SCE’s grid hardening, system reliability goals, and the mitigation of wildfire threat to Southern California.

Perform as a Lead sourcing and Procurement strategist doing strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract oversight, and risk management.Develop project and business plans, strategies, and provide direction. Anticipate potential issues and manage risk.
Lead on all phases of Procurement Negotiations for the Distribution Contractors.
Administer and Manage long term contracts.
Maintain and continue to build strategic relationships and collaborate with business partners to ensure alignment with SCE and organizational mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
Execute RFPs and strategic sourcing events. Lead sourcing initiatives and the project team using established sourcing best practices and project management methodology. Strategy events and the RFP are complex and require Procurement and T&D be aligned. Development of the RFP including Statement of Work (SOW), review Master Service Agreement (MSA), Unit Pricing Strategy, T&E and Unit Work Scope Job Aids, Evaluation Criteria and Rating Scales, and lead review and scoring efforts. Commercial Evaluation of all vendor submissions, schedule adherence, and communication to all stakeholders
Transparent and effective Communication, involvement in key Stakeholder Meetings to review and provide feedback on presentation materials prior to Executive Leadership presentment.
Provide guidance and leadership for other sourcing team members in a lead role.
Develop, lead, and implement strategic sourcing activities across Distribution Line Construction. Review of financial data, audits, should cost analysis, cost savings, relevant benchmarking.
Align with Distribution Business unit regarding contracting options which enable operational objectives. Initiate action through business unit customers and contractors to resolve issues, negotiate solutions, and support corrective actions where necessary.
Support Mutual assistance request for additional crews for SCE or alignment with T&D on Contractor crews released for other utilities support.
Identify strategic and DBE sources across all areas of Distribution Line Construction. Provide proactive category management, develop sustainability strategy, and strategically manage supplier relationships to ensure clients receive services meeting safety, quality, timeliness, cost, and risk parameters.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects and Pilots for Procurement and T&D.
Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
- At least ten years of experience in category strategy development and execution, strategic sourcing, procurement and/or contract management.
The preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Management, Operations or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) Certification or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Certification, Project Management Certification.
Typically possesses seven years of project management experience.
Experience developing procurement category strategies, purchasing and negotiating contracts with vendors.
Experience implementing and improving procurement tools and strategies.
Experience integrating strategies with technology solutions such as Ariba, SAP, and related platforms.
Experience with procurement, Work Management Performance, and Material Management.
Experience creating project management plans that specify charter, scope, cost estimates, schedule, milestones and target dates, and risk management plans.
Experience tracking and reporting of project performance and closing out projects upon completion.
Experience communicating with internal and external partners as well as make recommendations to senior leadership.
Experience collaborating with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results.

This position’s work mode is *hybrid. * The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
