Become a Risk Management, Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You will work as a senior consultant and technical authority to company officers and executives to help them make risk-informed decisions about various wildfire and PSPS-related topics. For each recommendation, you should have a deep understanding and structured assessment of the risk associated with the recommendation, alongside of other business justifications.

You will also work with executives and decision makers to risk-assess new initiatives, in a detailed, strategic, and structured way. To be successful you will need strong technical skills, strategic problem solving skills, client skills, excellent business judgment, and willingness to regularly work well with senior leaders.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Leading cross functional teams to apply a risk lens in Edison’s decision making process

  • Performing risk assessments on large-scale projects, processes, and compliance requirements to improve SCE’s understanding of risk and to reduce our exposure. This can include assessing risk to Edison’s physical assets in T&D, Generation, Corporate Real Estate, Cyber Security, etc.

  • Promoting and establishing an internal culture of risk quantification and advancing data-driven decision making for risk mitigations

  • Helping cross functional subject matter authorities across the company with a wide range of risk assessment, loss control, and operational impact analyses.

  • Establishing detailed, structured, and mathematical processes to quantify risk and assess mitigation options

  • Implementing the organization's strategic mentorship on risk management and loss prevention programs across SCE and EIX

  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and improving the overall ERM mission

Qualifications

The Essentials

  • Ten years of experience in quantitative analysis, cross-functional project management for major initiatives, risk management, loss prevention, business planning, strategic planning, or utility operations

The Preferred

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, Economics, or a risk related subject area

  • Seven of more years of experience with the development and leading sophisticated projects or programs

  • Five or more years of enterprise or operational risk management experience

  • Ten years of risk-based financial planning, asset management, energy, risk assessment and/or Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery experience that includes analytical tools and processes

  • Experience in utility-caused wildfire risk/threat assessment and mitigation/control development and implementation

You should know ...

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
