Become a Quality Assurance & Risk, Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.

As the Quality Assurance & Risk, Senior Advisor, you are responsible to formulate, implement, administer, and evaluate risk management and Quality Assurance (QA) methodologies to efficiently and cost-effectively identify and evaluate compliance risk. You will be educating, advising, and counseling compliance and QA teams across the enterprise. As the Quality Assurance & Risk, Senior Advisor, you will remain informed of the dynamic changes that occur within the environment and adjust methodologies and strategies based on those changes and participate in forums, risk management/Quality Assurance educational programs and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of emerging issues affecting SCE. You will also develop assessment and QA management tools and procedures, and provide training on assessment techniques and industry best practices, conduct risk assessments, compliance assessments and controls testing, as well as lead major projects or investigations. This position may fill in for the QA Manager as needed.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Develop annual risk and QA plans and strategies under the guidance of the QA Manager; work closely with compliance and QA managers across the enterprise to develop OU-level risk and compliance assessment plans.

  • Support and oversee OU execution of assessment plans; provide consulting services on risk identification to the OU compliance and QA teams; review assessment results and provides management with recommendations to improve their compliance strategies; evaluate controls designs and risk mitigation actions.

  • Build a “Culture of Compliance” by educating employees and managers to the requirements and importance of the company being in compliance with regulatory standards; conduct training on Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Controls Design, Compliance Assessments, and other governance-related topics.

  • Develop and maintain the infrastructure for a compliance QA/risk management program; collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management to integrate SCE risk methodologies into the regulatory compliance risk program.

  • Report to management on key risks and compliance issues found within the regulatory compliance environment identified through risk/compliance assessments and associated metrics; inform and advise Senior Management of controls strengths and weaknesses.

  • Conduct risk and compliance assessments on E&C-owned programs and standards following established risk assessment and QA policies, processes and procedures; identify and communicate issues to management and supports the remediation of control gaps through the development of appropriate controls.


The Essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration, or other relevant field.

  • Must have ten or more years of experience in establishing risk or QA programs, conducting or leading teams performing risk assessments, controls testing, compliance reviews or audits.

The Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or Quality.

  • Industry certification in related professional certifications including CMQ/OE, CISA, CQA, CISSP, CISM, CSQE, CGEIT, CRISC, CSSBB, PMP, PE.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 19011 and 31000 Standards, and/or SAP’s GRC module.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NERC and/or CPUC regulations.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices and standards in the field of risk management, governance, compliance, process management, and/or Quality Assurance.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills collaborating with teams consisting of members across a variety of departments and disciplines.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, translate technical concepts, make strategic decisions and recommendations, and guide other’s decision making by identifying the anticipated benefits, consequences, and impacts of alternatives.

  • Demonstrated experience with data analytics including: 

  • Analysis of complex sets of data using Microsoft Excel functions (including Pivot tables and other formulas).

  • Analysis of data using analytics software (e.g., PowerBI).

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, and leadership skills.
