Generation is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of Southern California Edison's Generation assets. Which includes: hydro, solar, gas, combined cycle, and fuel cells.
Southern California Edison is seeking an energetic Project Controls Engineer to join our Major Project and Engineering (MP&E) team in the Generation organization. MP&E is responsible for the planning and execution of a portfolio of complex Generation projects.
The successful candidate will have proven project cost experience with multi-phase, multi-million dollar design and construction projects. Some general responsibilities include analyzing and preparing detailed project cost reports, reviewing subcontractor proposals and invoicing, and developing summary reports of the project portfolio. The Project Controls Engineer will also be required to generate and develop project schedules and utilize cost information to forecast cost and schedule impact to projects. The Project Controls Engineer works closely with the project managers and the project controls team to maintain the project’s plan by performing analysis and communicating progress or challenges.

Develop project cost reports to assist Project Managers to monitor, manage, and forecast project costs and inform Generation leadership.
Develop/maintain project baseline budgets, monthly and multi-year forecasts.
Create and maintain a project risk register and evaluate the level of project budget and contingency
Track Field Change Orders and ensure PM awareness/approval and updating of project forecast.
Manage workflow of the E2020 Construction Documents Managements and report use analytics.
Perform detailed research, updates and data gathering in the areas of cost engineering such as forecast, contingency development, and earned value.
Prepare detailed schedules to manage project timing, resources and earned value.
Collaborate with Project Managers to manage the Work Breakdown Structure for use in cost allocation, tracking, and schedule development.
Collaborate with project team members and external stakeholders for development of cost estimate using industry standard tools.
Assist with the creation of job aids and training on Project Controls processes to other MP&E groups as requested.
Develop and track multiple project schedules within the Generation portfolio.
Review contractor schedules and coordinate comments or corrections.
Report schedule performance issues.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or other related discipline.
Four years of experience in project management, project controls and/or construction management.
Experience in working with project managers to identify cost and schedule performance variances along with opportunities and mitigation strategies.
Experience with Microsoft Project.
7-10 years of professional experience in project management including typical project controls activities of project scheduling, budget development and forecast and analytics development and reporting.
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or other related discipline.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office.
Experience with P6
