The Network Security Sr. Specialist resides in the Grid Services department within Information Technology. In this job, you will provide security operational analysis and support for SCE’s critical data infrastructure to ensure that the Organizational Units adhere to the appropriate Cyber Security IT Standards and Direction. In addition, you will implement and operationalize new Cyber Security technologies. Responsible for perimeter and internal security systems including, but not limited to, multivendor firewall administration, device posturing, secure authentication and authorization servers, intrusion prevention systems, web application firewalls, network packet analysis, vulnerability assessments, network asset-management, network forensics, incident response, machine generated log analysis, log retention, and network anomaly detection and alerting.
Instrumental in implementing complex SmartGrid technical Security Solutions for the Grid Modernization initiatives. The Grid Mod Initiatives will build the next-generation of ultra-reliable, secure, high-speed, multi-protocol provider networks which will combine several disparate and existing networks.
Five years or more experience in the field of IT Security.
Experience using security infrastructure tools and technologies including firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems and Intrusion Detection Systems.
Experience in Networking/Network Operations.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business, or Technical Discipline.
Experience using DevOps. or Agile Methodology experience.
Experience configuring, tuning, and performing in-depth analysis in Security and Security related tools.
Experience with implementation of policies and procedures for compliance and audits.
Experience in a Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM).
Operational experience with advanced firewall features; Data Filtering, Application Control, Anti-Virus, and File Blocking, Web Application Firewalls, Network Access Control.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

This position’s work mode is Hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
