Southern California Edison Load Forecasting Senior Specialist in Rosemead, California
ENERGY FOR WHAT’S AHEAD
Are you looking to make a difference in your career? We’re working on smarter grids, cleaner energy and tools to help people manage energy more efficiently.
About Energy Procurement & Management (EPM):
Energy Procurement & Management’s (EPM’s) mission is to ensure that our customers have enough electricity to meet their needs, through the output of SCE-owned generation plants and purchase of electricity from independent generators. We engage in multi-year contracts from both traditional and renewable generators, and conduct day-ahead and real-time trading to serve our customers’ electricity demands.
The SeniorSpecialist position will be in the Trading and Market Operations department within the EPM organization. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Energy Forecasting and will be responsible for providing net and true load forecasts in the hour-ahead through 90 day-ahead timeframe for SCE and ISO service territories. The forecasts are used for wholesale procurement of electricity for SCE customers and going forward will be used to understand the state of the distribution grid and aid in the dispatch of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) as needed.
The major responsibilities of the Forecasting group include forecasting electricity demand and prices. The group works closely with portfolio planning, trading, operations, business resiliency, and strategic planning groups to ensure that downstream groups have the information they need for their transactions and functions. Another major responsibility of the Forecasting group is DER strategy and integration. The successful load forecasting candidate will work closely with that function to forecast the energy output for specific DERs including Demand Response, Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and Electric Vehicle resources at different levels and aggregations throughout SCE’s distribution grid.
