You will support and drive technology solutions within the Transmission and Distribution (T&D), Power Supply, or Customer Service portfolios.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of activities of the operating unit/portfolio business capabilities and direction and translates new business needs into solution architecture requirements, defines multiple solution options to new and maturing business capabilities and understands the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.

  • Leads the development of logical architecture for complex applications. Uses and implements overall Enterprise Architecture (EA) solution patterns and gains acceptance of solutions. Ensures that the solution under consideration appropriately covers all domains including application, integration, cybersecurity, and infrastructure. Addresses support, scalability, and decommissioning requirements for all solution definitions.

  • Builds project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.

  • Provides embedded EA support and governance and supervises the work of project resources on strategic programs and projects as well as monitors and guides project resources when/if multiple projects are within a program.

  • Understands and articulates the integration across the enterprise and influences key business collaborators, process owners, and program and project managers to ensure that program/ project objectives are met while providing a first line of decision making on architectural governance issues.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience within Information Technology, Operations, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Application Development and/or technical related field.

  • Five (5) or more years of hands-on software engineering and development, knowledge of standard System Development Lifecycle models, methodologies and coding standards.

  • Experience working with large enterprise systems in a very complex enterprise environment.

  • Experience creating high-quality presentations, proposals, statements of work, and assessment artifacts for presentations to a broad range of collaborators including senior management, executives.

  • Experience in IT architecture and/or software and systems design/ engineering practices including industry standard approaches and frameworks.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical major/ subject area.

  • Knowledge of TOGAF or other Enterprise Architecture Standards or Frameworks

  • Experience with electric utility business processes with emphasis on Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Generation, Grid Operations, or Customer Service.

  • Experience with control systems, communication networks, cybersecurity technologies, or Operational Technologies (OT)

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

  • Experience with SAP on-premises, cloud, data, and integration technologies

  • Experience working in projects applying Agile development and DevOps

  • Experience with Cloud technologies including microservices based and distributed architectures

  • Client/customer facing experience in a presales engineering or technical consulting role

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid .  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
