Southern California Edison Head of Reporting and Technical Accounting in Rosemead, California
ENERGY FOR WHAT’S AHEAD
Are you looking to make a difference in your career? We’re working on smarter grids, cleaner energy and tools to help people manage energy more efficiently.
Southern California Edison (SCE) is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, serving more than 14 million people in a 50,000 square-mile area of central, coastal, and southern California, excluding the city of Los Angeles and certain other cities. The utility has more than 12,000 employees and has been providing electric service in the region for over 125 years. SCE is a recognized industry leader in renewables, energy efficiency and distributed energy resource development.
SCE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE:EIX), and both are headquartered in Rosemead, California. Edison International has almost 13,000 employees with a total revenue of approximately $11.5 billion, total assets of about $50 billion, and a market capitalization of $22 billion. As an organization, Edison International is strongly committed to diversity and serving all its communities with clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy.
The electric power business is in a period of significant shifts, including public policy toward heightened environmental protection and energy security, and advances in environmental and “smart grid” technologies. As a result, all major elements of the business – generation, energy delivery and customer usage – are in transition at the same time.
The State of California is a leader in environmental policy and continues to increase expectations for carbon reduction and air quality improvements across the state. These policies have significant implications on Southern California Edison’s business – both opportunities to strengthen electric utilities’ role in the California economy and challenges to their current business model. Currently, SCE is leading the industry in the use and development of renewable energy, energy efficiency programs, and electric transportation.
To forge a clear path as a continued leader in this transformation, SCE takes a proactive stance that depends on a strong understanding of potential environmental actions and business strategies that capitalize on the change. SCE is well positioned to navigate the uncertainties ahead and contribute significantly to the development of smarter, cleaner electric systems to the benefit of customers, shareholders, and the communities they serve.
