The Finance Organization provides financial services to Southern California Edison (SCE). The organization acts as a steward to do what is best for the company, ensuring that SCE meets or exceeds its strategic objectives.

The Job…

The Principal Manager of Financial Planning will lead our short- and long-term consolidated SCE financial forecasting efforts from within the Treasurer’s department and the Finance organization. The highly visible role requires a broad understanding of SCE’s operations, regulations and financial principles. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for complex financial modeling, analysis of financial plans, dividend policy, cash and capital structure forecasting and analysis, and financial modeling and forecasting for SCE’s General Rate Case and other regulatory filings.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Lead staff responsible for SCE’s consolidated short- and long-term financial forecasting, including projections of earnings, dividends, cash flows and financing requirements, rating agency credit metrics, revenue requirements and customer rates

  • Lead analysis of SCE cash position including credit and liquidity analysis, financial ratio analysis, credit availability, support for timing of financings, and interactions with rating agencies

  • Lead the analysis and comparison of monthly, quarterly and annual financial results and key performance indicators against plan and other internal benchmarks

  • Financial assessment of public, regulatory or legislative policy changes

  • Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects that may include, but are not limited to, reviewing, approving and interpreting regulatory requirements, consulting with senior leaders on complex compliance issues that impact the Company, financings, divestitures and acquisitions

  • Ensure resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs

  • Make, recommend and/or approve employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, and termination)

  • Manage employee performance for a staff of professionals, including establishing performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures

  • Manage, train and develop staff by providing timely feedback, mentoring and support


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, or similar discipline

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the field of financial analysis/planning

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience managing, supervising, or leading teams or staff

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of combined experience managing, supervising or leading teams over finance functions

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or similar discipline.

  • CFA Certification

  • Experience performing, developing, and implementing short-term and long-term financial analysis, financial planning and/or capital forecasting

  • Experience building financial models

  • Experience performing and preparing financial reports on either financial plans, asset valuations, capital investments and expenditures, capital recovery, dividends, acquisitions and/or divestitures

  • Ability to accurately analyze information and make strategic decisions that have cross-organizational impact

  • Strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills to build and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas and provide outstanding service to internal and external customers

  • Demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively handle stress and engage in continuous learning
