The job …

Recent policy changesand company objectiveshave resulted in the need for transformational change of the utility business model in California. In the past few years, the focus on GHG emissions reductions and environmental health has resulted in significant requirements on the California IOUs to modernize the grid and its associated processes to incorporate significant amounts ofTransportation Electrification opportunities.

We have11 years to reduce greenhouse gas emissionsby 40%. However,we havea longer-term goal of 80% reduction by 2050.We need to find a way toget there in a way that isaffordable,sustainable, good for theeconomyand goodfor our customers.We need new ideas, new partnerships, new infrastructure, and a lot of support from industries across our economy and the government to find practical alternatives.

Meeting these goals will requirea new responsibility in the newly formed eMobility organization to develop new and improved objectives and plans with intra-department management collaboration which will have significant company impact. The eMobility Events Specialist, will be responsible for tracking and providing planning support for SCE’s internal and external engagements in the Transportation Electrification space as well as planning and supporting a variety of activities focused on eMobility programs and EV awareness to promote the adoption of EVs and the achievement of emissions reduction goals.

The day to day…..

Event Planning & External Engagement:

  • Planning small to large internal and external events such as customer workshops and forums, webinars, training sessions, outreach events, ride and drives & program kickoff events by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders in planning events, including non-profit organizations, industry groups, strategic customers, regulatory agencies and multiple groups within SCE such as Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Business Customer Division, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and others.

  • Maintaining the eMobility Business Development & Partnership team’s external engagement request tracker.

  • Managing the intake process to prioritize internal and external engagement requests.

  • Confirming and coordinating SCE speakers from within the eMobility group and across SCE to support internal and external presentation and speaking requests and providing appropriate background/briefing information on the event.

  • Supporting speakers with briefing packets, preparation of presentation materials and talking points.

  • Managing relationships with automakers providing discounts to SCE employees and customers on electric vehicles.

Operations Support:

  • Establishing metrics, tracking results and recommending improvements related to initiatives and business development strategies.

  • Supporting the senior Project Manager with ad/logo requests, vendor management, development of policies and procedures, invoicing, budget tracking, and reporting.

  • Supporting the Business Development & Partnerships team with the development and management of presentation materials

Strategic Support:

  • Supporting business development strategies.

  • Managing submissions for industry awards and competitions.

  • Reporting on external engagement and business development activities in response to CPUC data requests.

  • Communicating with leaders from eMobility and throughout SCE in support of TE external engagement.

  • Ad hoc activities as assigned.


Qualifications you need …

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, communications or related discipline.

  • Three (3) or more years of analytical experience.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience planning events.

  • Two (2) years’ experience in one of more of the following fields: business development, utilities, electric vehicles, transportation electrification or marketing.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Other details that will set you up for success …

  • 2 years’ experience supporting a business development, marketing or sales organization.

  • 2 years’ experience working in the field of program/project management in an analyst role.

  • Knowledge of transportation electrification field.

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM software.

  • Highly organized.

  • Experience working on projects and with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience developing presentations for internal/external audiences.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively handle stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.
