The Cybersecurity Specialist 2 position resides in the Cybersecurity & IT Compliance department within Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Information Technology organization. The successful candidate will analyze and assess new technologies, provide maintenance and support of existing tools, provide maintenance and troubleshooting of end point agents, as well as participate in Incident Response events as needed.
Typical Responsibilities :
Provides complex technical analysis in data planning, engineering and design after considering alternatives through independent research and analysis.
Performs systems planning; analyzes alternatives and recommends innovative
technologies that will enhance the current system(s).
Work with Incident Response teams to optimize the analysis and assessments of vulnerabilities in our infrastructure (software, hardware, networks), investigate available tools and countermeasures to remedy the detected vulnerabilities, and recommend solutions and best practices.
Provide Tier 2 analysis to assess and remediate damage to the data/infrastructure as a result of security incidents, examines availability recovery tools and processes.
Responsible for the completion of milestones associated with specific projects by tracking and reporting progress to management.
Monitor networks, end points, and applications in large organizations, looking for events and traffic indicators that signal intrusion by auditing system access, end point activity and anomalies that occur within the environment.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field performing threat analysis and providing recommendations within a Cybersecurity framework.
Desired Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated experience in Incident Response and Threat Analysis.
Experience conducting assessments of threats and vulnerabilities.
Knowledge and experience of advanced malware analysis and reverse engineering strategies.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and must be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs, including the ability to translate technical language into clear business language. Demonstrated experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Certifications: CISSP, GISF, GSEC, GCED, GIAC
Knowledge of evolving IT technologies.
Knowledge and/or experience of the utility industry business processes and operations.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties
