Position Overview:

As a Contract Specialist for Southern California Edison you will be supporting and developing sourcing strategies for the Information Technology (IT) Procurement group within Supply Management. The IT Procurement group manages over $600M in annual spend across software, IT hardware, professional services, digital acceleration efforts, and other categories. It’s challenging but deeply rewarding work. You’re interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills will be fully exercised as you manage a variety of strategies that focus on value creation, cost savings, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation. You will be responsible for supporting the development and optimization of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. You will lead/participate in Terms & Conditions negotiations, competitive solicitation, supplier selection, achievement of applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), contract negotiation and development.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Represents the Company as a primary procurement contact in transactions involving the purchase, lease, or licensing of materials, supplies, equipment, services, for Information Technology.

  • Participates in and may direct the development, negotiation, and procurement of moderately complex purchase orders, change orders, requests for proposals, and contracts/agreements.

  • Negotiates Terms & Conditions and amendments to contracts/agreements as required.

  • Ensures achievement of the best value to the organization by coordinating the bid process and making recommendations for contract awards of moderate value.

  • May participate in or lead strategic sourcing efforts, forecasts, and cost projections with moderate impact on business and operational strategy.

  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and consultants as well as corporate managers, supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.

  • Interprets contract provisions, resolves unusual or politically sensitive disputes, and resolves complicated invoice and payment issues.

  • Provides advice, solutions, and recommendations on decisions having moderate to major impact on the organization.

  • May independently make low-medium impact final decisions, with recommendations to high impact final decisions to Leadership.

  • On occasion may provide functional direction to other agents.

  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience in purchasing, contract management and/or negotiating contracts.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Ariba Sourcing, Contracting, and P2P modules.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and decision making experience of purchasing practices and policies.

  • Typically possesses five years of experience and knowledge of procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions.

  • Knowledgeable in and able to effectively use PC software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Typically possesses five years of experience and knowledge of Supply Chain processes and supporting activities.

  • Experience with industry best practices, standards, utility regulations, procedures and compliance as they relate to purchasing.

  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience analyzing information and making strategic decisions regarding scope, impact, policy, development, and implementation.

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, formal correspondence, contractual documentation, and negotiations.

  • Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovations.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • CPM, CPSM, CPCM, CCCM, and/or PMP certification(s)

  • Experience using SAP software in a purchasing environment.

Comments:

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Occasional travel required (1 out of state conferences a year)

  • Telecommuting opportunities may be presented based on performance and management discretion (1-3 days a week, after first 6 months)
