Become a Clean Energy Policy Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You’ll be on the Customer Programs Policy (CPP) team in the Energy & Environmental Policy department of Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Regulatory Affairs organization. The Energy & Environmental Policy Department is responsible for analyzing federal and state energy and environmental policies, analyzing and assisting in the development of long-term environmental, energy and technology strategies, and case management for regulatory proceedings.

As a Clean Energy Policy Specialist , you will focus on customer facing programs and services that support SCE’s Clean Power and Electrification Pathway such as demand response (DR), demand flexibility, and self-generation incentive programs. In this role, you will support various regulatory projects for the CPP team by providing project management and analytical support for those regulatory proceedings. The Regulatory Case Specialist will work in close coordination with Regulatory Case Managers and Senior Case Managers on the CPP team as well as experts across the company.

Because this role is strategically aligned with the operational and regulatory goals for SCE, you will also interact with senior SCE management as well as external stakeholders including staff at various regulatory agencies.

Typical responsibilities

  • Analyze various regulatory documents such as decisions, rulings, comments, and protests, provide summaries, draw conclusions and make preliminary recommendations

  • Analyze financial and/or non-financial data sets, draw conclusions and make recommendations for various regulatory proceedings as needed

  • Perform project management support for various regulatory cases such as project organizing, and planning, project scheduling and performance tracking, project communications planning and stakeholder engagement planning

  • Facilitate meetings and prepare meeting notes/follow up on action items

  • Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations

  • Assist in the drafting regulatory documents such as testimony, workpapers, compliance reports, and comments

  • Prepare or coordinate the development of data request responses

  • Prepare and submit simple advice letters

  • Implement changes to tariffs

  • Research past decisions and filings

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Three years of experience in project management and/or analysis of utility-related public policy, regulatory, operational or financial data, or related work.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, specifically with styles and formatting. PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook or an equivalent e-mail application.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business, Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Environmental Policy, or related field experience with regulatory matters, law, or utility operations.

  • Project management certification

  • Work experience with project management, utility finance or consulting

  • Knowledge of CPUC structure, general practices & procedures.

  • General knowledge of Company structure, objectives and policies relating to state and federal agencies.

You should know

  • When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
