The job…

This position will be part of the Legal Organization at Southern California Edison (SCE). You will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve personal injury and property damage claims both for and against SCE.

Day to day…

  • Handling multiple concurrent customer claims and investigation projects; preparing detailed accident investigation reports and memorandums on a daily basis regarding property damage, bodily injury, and business loss claims.

  • Conducting field investigations including first/third party vehicle accidents, trip and falls, fires, and electrical contacts.

  • Working with Edison contractors and Field Personnel including Trouble-men, Repair Crews, Line Clearing Specialists, Field Service Representatives, and Planning Personnel.

  • Representing the Company in Small Claims Court; representing the Company at Mediations, Settlement Conferences, and Trials, and assisting Counsel as required.

  • Traveling throughout the SCE service territory as needed.

  • Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Qualifications you need …

  • Five or more years of experience in claims handling and/or field investigations.

  • Ability to represent the Company in Small Claims Court.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license.

Other details that will set you up for success …

  • Six (6) or more years of experience investigating and resolving liability and collection claims.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related/equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving personal injury and property damage claims including electrical and fire incidents.

  • Experience writing reports or memorandums documenting incidents involving property damage, business loss, accident, incident, investigation, collision, bodily injury, and fire claims.

  • Experience handling multiple concurrent projects or assignments.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including written memorandums and reports.

  • Ability to represent the Company in Small Claims court, as well as collaborating with customers and external and internal clients.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop business and services to improve customer happiness and productivity, handle risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, handle information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision-making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with emerging technology and innovation.

  • Strong ethics, and the ability to influence others through negotiation. Demonstrate leadership along with positive interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to effectively handle a busy work environment and engage in continuous learning.

  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Be able to travel across the Southern California Edison's service territory.

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA, however, 30% will be local travel. This position will occasionally call for overnight travel.
