The Operations organization is responsible for the planning and execution of business activities that support delivery of safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy and provide excellent service to our customers. The organization implements critical public and worker safety efforts, leads business and operational resiliency initiatives, and ensures the successful implementation of business strategies and achievement of company objectives. We have a strong drive for continuous improvement, and we identify and implement projects that leverage technology to improve efficiency.

The Job…………

You will work as the Chief of Staff - Senior Advisor and report directly to the EVP of Operations to provide a variety of professional support to the EVP and, at times, their direct reports.

You will support day-to-day activities, advise on strategic issues, provide oversight of strategic projects, and have daily interface with executives across the enterprise.

Detailed Things you will be doing…….

  • Act on the authority of the EVP to plan, oversee, and execute strategic activities requiring cross-functional collaboration and resource allocation.

  • Manage multiple senior-leader meetings, including agenda setting and action item follow-up, in a way that supports effective decision-making, alignment and prioritization. Meetings include Operations senior leadership team meetings and decision-making forums at both SCE and EIX.

  • You will lead planning and preparation of presentations for the SCE and EIX Boards of Directors and associated committee meetings where you will: suggest agenda topics, work with subject matter experts to prepare materials, and provide guidance and feedback to all contributors to ensure quality and timely products.

  • Attend SCE and EIX governance meetings with EVP of Operations to maintain visibility and to track key issues, resolutions, and business needs.

  • Assist in prioritization of calendars and action items and drive follow-up and accountability.

  • Prepare EVP for events and presentations, including: gather or draft briefing materials and talking points, and prepare various written communications for internal and external audiences.

  • You will represent the EVP, taking initial meetings with outside parties for screening purposes or internal groups for greater accessibility.

  • Manage ad-hoc analyses and special projects in support of corporate objectives or emerging issues

Qualifications

Qualifications we need you to have……

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Ten years of experience supporting or leading significant cross-functional business projects.

  • Seven years of experience managing direct reporting staff or providing high-level staff/managers functional direction with significant influence.

  • You have experience in program management, business development and/or process improvement methodologies.

  • High level of demonstrated expertise in writing both complex material and high-level summaries for varied audiences.

Other things that will set you up for success……..

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in business, engineering or technical discipline.

  • Project management certification.

  • Experience in managing and/or working within the core operations of a utility or similar company.

  • Demonstrated expertise translating complex information into compelling, easy to understand narratives.

  • Knowledge of Company and department policies, objectives, strategies, goals.

  • Demonstrated experience in applying a structured problem-solving approach to improve company performance or deliver strategic value.

  • Demonstrated leadership in the development and implementation of strategic business initiatives.

  • Experience acting as a lead witness in a regulatory proceeding.

  • Experience managing complex consulting engagements and complex contracts/procurement.

  • Experience in coordinating industry collaborative groups such as industry standards/working groups, regulatory venues, or industry associations.

  • Experience in developing and executing internal and/or external communications plans for employees, customers, vendors, utilities and regulators.
