Position Overview

This position will be an Air Quality Technical Specialist within the Air Quality Section of Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Environmental Services Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing air quality regulations, developing compliance strategies and minimizing air quality compliance risks at SCE facilities and projects. The specialist will support the development of Title V/RECLAIM compliance documents, air quality related permit applications and compliance reports for submittal to State and local regulatory agencies. The successful candidate may also be requested to help assure that project construction activities are compliant with air quality regulations.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Performing in-depth air quality regulatory analysis;

  • Producing and/or reviewing Title V/RECLAIM related documentation based on analyses;

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to address emissions mitigation problems/issues;

  • Providing technical air quality regulatory compliance analysis for both non-generation and generation assets;

  • Supporting division management and client organizations on air quality compliance issues;

  • Collaborating with cross functional teams in order to resolve technical compliance questions;

  • Conducting air quality compliance assessments across various SCE facilities; and

  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The successful candidate will be recognized internally as a subject matter expert in the field of air quality compliance. The Technical Specialist’s responsibilities may include traveling to various facilities or construction sites throughout the SCE territory


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Environmental Science or related discipline.

  • Four or more years of experience in performing analysis and consulting within environmental/engineering fields.

  • Experience in air permitting and regulatory compliance in SCAQMD.

  • Proficient with MS Microsoft Suites.

Desired Qualifications

  • CPP certification

  • Experience performing complex air quality analyses.

  • Experience preparing air quality impact assessment reports.

  • Experience collaborating with multidiscipline teams in order to resolve technical issues.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be recognized internally as an expert in the field air quality compliance.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external clients.

  • Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Able to travel to various facilities throughout the SCE territory.


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA; however, this position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
