Job Description

The Sr Tax Accountant position's main responsibilities include preparing schedules for tax provisions, quarterly estimated tax, and corporate income/franchise tax filings. The Sr Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting with corporate income tax matters, income tax returns compliance processes, researching tax issues, analyzing applicable tax laws, and documenting conclusions. In addition, the Senior Tax Accountant supervises and leads others on projects and offers direction to achieve tax department goals. The Sr Tax Accountant will report directly to the Tax Manager.

This position will be located at our Rolling Meadows, IL office, and we offer a hybrid schedule with 2 days of work from home and 3 days in the office per week. Essential Functions

  • Play an active role in preparing provisions for federal and state taxes, rate reconciliations, and reserves for uncertain tax positions

  • Assist with calculation and preparation of quarterly corporate income tax estimated tax payments and extensions

  • Prepare schedules for federal, state, and local income tax filings

  • Prepare property tax returns, annual reports, and other miscellaneous filings as required

  • Provide support during any tax audits

  • Manage fixed asset depreciation calculation for tax purposes

  • Remain informed with respect to tax law developments and their impact on the Company

  • Assist Tax Managers and Director of Tax with special tax projects as needed

  • Assist with accounting/finance responsibilities as needed

  • Regular and predictable attendance

  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable.

Job Requirements


  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in public accounting or corporate tax accounting is required, with a specialization in income tax.

  • Solid background in U.S. corporate tax compliance, GAAP, and other related U.S. accounting standards.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is required.


  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and time management

  • Team Player who is not afraid to ask questions

  • Advanced skills with the Microsoft applications Word and Excel

  • High attention to detail as well as critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Proactive communicator who responds timely to work requests

  • Results-oriented and self-motivated

  • Basic understanding of business systems

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience with weekly pay. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

  • Two days per week remote work option for non-field roles depending on position and performance.
