Job Responsibilities:

Heavy Equipment Operator-Gas Distribution

The Heavy Equipment Operator-Gas Distribution (Greater Rochester and surrounding counties) role is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of many different types of heavy construction equipment including but not limited to the following: excavators, loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, skid steers, etc. The operation of this equipment is required to assist in the task at hand, commonly excavation, trenching, material handling, loading and unloading materials for the completion of natural gas infrastructure projects. The position will work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions utilizing both hand and power tools on natural gas infrastructure construction projects.

This position is required to perform the following functions:

  • Operate heavy construction equipment including, running, maneuvering, navigating and driving typically excavating and working around other public utilities such as gas, electric, telecommunication, water and sewer.

  • Complete various assignments by SAFELY and efficiently operating and maintaining heavy equipment

  • Conduct operator inspections and perform preventative maintenance checks. (Greasing, checking fluid levels, etc.)

  • Ensure company equipment and material is maintained, kept clean and stored in a safe manner

Job Qualifications:

Skills and Experience

Required

  • 2 – 4 years of Heavy Equipment operation experience

  • Ability to pass Operator Qualification Testing for Natural Gas work

  • Possess a Valid Driver’s License

  • Must be able to lift at least 100 lbs. and pass a post offer, pre-employment physical assessment test.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of time, with flexible hours inclusive of weekends and holidays

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with working around other underground utilities such as natural gas, electrical and telecom

  • High School Diploma or Vocational training in a closely related field

  • Mechanically inclined

  • CDL License
