As Fleet Director at Lewis Tree Service, you are responsible for leading the overall operations and direction of the fleet department with a focus on strategic direction and long-term financial goals.

What You’ll Do…

  • Create a strategy and KPI’s for the Fleet function…

  • Manage the fleet services department goals and strategic direction in support of the operational requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Fleet policies, practices and procedures…

  • Develop and implement a robust and repeatable preventative maintenance program for the entire fleet.

  • Develop an annual and ongoing strategic fleet budget.

  • Approve requisitions and purchase orders for fleet assets.

  • Lead purchasing and decommissioning of fleet assets…

  • Develop relationships with authorized dealers, contractors and vendors to secure equipment and vehicles.

  • Develop long-range plans to purchase equipment and vehicles for the fleet including preparing and writing specifications for vehicles and equipment.

  • Develop retirement and life-cycle processes that include the disposal of obsolete or surplus vehicles and equipment.

  • Lead and manage a team of employees…

  • With input from the team, establish annual department goals and objectives

  • Support direct reports to help them accomplish their goals and develop professionally

  • Mentor and instruct fleet department employees in proper or preferred repair methods as needed.

  • Directly supervise the Fleet Manager and the Region Fleet Supervisors.

  • Responsible for adherence to federal and local laws and regulations regarding commercial DOT fleets.

  • Promote and set fleet safety standards.

Keys to Success…

  • Knowledge of GPS products.

  • Knowledge of the maintenance, operation and repair of motor equipment of all types including automobiles, construction equipment, diesel engines, motors and pumps.

  • Knowledge of the principles of mechanical design.

  • Knowledge of repair costs of commercial fleet assets.

  • Ability to display resourcefulness, reliability, sound technical judgement and initiative.

  • Ability to grasp the big picture and translate the information into actionable activities

  • Strong leadership skills, seeking to bring out the best in others

  • Ability to be a critical and strategic thinker

  • Demonstrate technical, business and financial acumen

What You’ll Need…

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.

  • Minimum of five years of management experience with large mobile fleets.

  • Leadership experience directly managing a team

  • Experience with ERP platforms (JD Edward preferred)

  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
