Job Summary

Dominion Energy Transmission's Pipeline Integrity Group has one opening available for a PHMSA Coordinator-Engineer II or Engineer III commensurate with the selected candidate’s skills and experience.

This position will report through Dominion Energy Transmission’s Pipeline Integrity Group, but will be assigned full-time to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) Project. This role will be the single point of contact with all pipeline safety regulatory agencies, specifically the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Virginia State Corporation Commission (VASCC).

This individual will be responsible for the coordination and facilitation of all regulatory inspections. Other responsibilities include internal auditing, construction records coordination with project managers, development, through collaboration with Pipeline Integrity, of regulatory interpretations associated with ACP activities, and responding to data requests by agencies.

This position will require frequent travel within the project footprint, which spans from central West Virginia to southeastern North Carolina. This position will require up to 75% travel.

There is one position available that will be filled at either the Engineer II or Engineer III level, commensurate with the selected candidates skills and abilities.Note: This position is eligible for corporate relocation if eligibility requirements are met.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II:

3-4+ years of engineering experence in the natural gas industry or similar field. Candidates must have at least two years experience specifically in natural gas engineering.

Engineer III:

5-6+ years of engineering experience in the natural gas industry or similar field. Candidates must have at least two years experience specifically in natural gas engineering.

Engineering Degree REQUIRED, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering (see Education Requirements Section)

Individual must possess a strong working knowledge of all applicable codes and standards. In particular, knowledge of the following are required:

API RP1104

ASME B31.8

API Specification 5L

API Specification 6D

ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.

Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.

Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.

Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).

Strong personal computer skills.

Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)Equally effective working independently or in team environment.

Proven decision making skills.

Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Required: Bachelor degree or higher

Specific Disciplines include: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
