Job Purpose

The Project Supervisor is responsible for determining the resources needed and allocate as necessary to meet project requirements and schedules by managing the day to day activities for all projects. This position supports the Project Management and Construction teams and works with other personnel in the department.

Essential Functions

  1. Have an understanding of federal, state, local, and company safety policies and create a Safety Culture in the workplace.

  2. Determine project resources needed and allocate as necessary.

  3. Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost tracking reports.

  4. Interpret and explain project plans and specifications to staff to ensure understanding and compliance with specifications.

  5. Track and report all internal and subcontracted resources and report daily/weekly/monthly production as it relates to the overall project schedule.

  6. Direct and supervise internal and subcontracted work force.

  7. Have competent knowledge of aerial and underground utility construction methods appropriate to the specifications of the project.

  8. Work closely with Engineering team to review and approve the engineering packages.

  9. Work with the Project Manager to complete all project cost proposals.

  10. Attend final QC walkout with customer at the completion of each project.

  11. Requisition supplies and materials, as required by supply chain management, to complete construction projects.

  12. Communicate with supervisory personnel, owners, subcontractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as procedures, complaints, and construction challenges.

  13. Investigate all construction related claims and delays to ensure proper procedures are being implemented and enacted.

  14. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. A High School Diploma or equivalent.

  2. 1 year of construction project or field experience.

  3. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook and Excel, with intermediate to advanced spreadsheet capabilities.

  4. Understanding of utility construction installation methodologies, blueprint reading, and understanding of requirement/specification technical requirements.

  5. High level of analytical thinking skills to plan and forecast work.

  6. Understanding of critical path methodology to ensure timely delivery of milestone tasks.

  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  8. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

  9. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or similar field of study.

  2. 5 or more years of construction project or field experience.

  3. Previous supervisory experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
