Power Plant Lead Operator

DUTIES

  1. Under general supervision, performs work required for equipment operation to maintain continuity of service consistent with safe and economical practices. Directs the work of others assisting him/her.

  2. May perform work in other classifications at the intermediate* level; may perform the first class duties of the Mechanical Operator and Technical Operator positions according to his/her prior completed training/experience either in or outside the Company as documented in company records.

  3. Issue tags for clearing equipment and instructions for making it ready for service, as directed by the System Operator or Tagging Authority; fill out tags removed from equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma.

  2. Acceptable scores on Poss Mass test.

  3. Must have thorough knowledge of established operating procedures, rules and instructions pertaining to the duties he/she will perform in a reasonable time period. Must have a thorough knowledge of the layout, operation, function, and locations of equipment in the Station and be able to diagram and explain the operation of that equipment.

  4. Must hold a State of New Jersey Steam Engineer's License, Stationary, Third Class (Blue Seal). Must obtain any certificates or licenses required by Federal, State or local authority in a reasonable period of time and must maintain such licenses. The training will be paid for and provided by the Company, and changes shall be subject to Article X.B. of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  5. Must be capable of assuming the supervisory responsibilities related to the work he/she will perform.
