Job Summary

In your role as a Telecommunication Technician, you will apply your basic knowledge of all areas of telecommunications and perform maintenance on telecommunications equipment.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

• Installation and wiring of routers/switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.

• Mobile fleet field communication installations including pedestals, mobile radios, and network carrier equipment.

• Effectively identify and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

3+ years demonstrated experience in one or more of the following.

• Working knowledge of 4-wire data circuits, T-1 circuits, POTS lines, fiber terminations, 48 and 135v systems, OPX, FSX, FXO, and data circuits demonstrated by 3-5 years of related experience.

• Skilled in the use of T1 transmission test set, BERT test set, LAN and wireless testing, PRI testing,.

• Skilled in the termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types and familiarity with color coding requirements for cabling identification, 66m block, 110 block, wire wrapping, Cat 5/6 cabling.

• Fiber termination, testing and troubleshooting knowledge

• Ability to work on program/install Channel Banks/Mux,

• Ability to program, test and troubleshoot 2 way radios in mobile vehicles as well as handheld units, and use IFR and other Radio test equipment.

• Must be safety and environmentally conscious as well as detailed oriented.

• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 45 pounds.

• Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.

• Willing and able to participate in a rotating on call schedule

Education Requirements

Education Level: Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience or High School diploma, G.E.D., military experience with 5 years of demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
