Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Corporate Security Group is seeking a Nuclear Access Specialist for its offices at 8th and Main in downtown Richmond, VA.

This role is responsible for the following:

Schedules and coordinates resources to gather, review and/or maintain elements necessary for Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA), Unescorted Access (UA), and Fitness for Duty Programs as required by federal regulations.

Proven ability to conduct interviews, review/evaluate criminal history, and analyze individual applications and reports to ensure all information provided by each applicant is accurate, complete, and truthful.

Fully functional as an industry recognized Reviewing Official responsible for reviewing and evaluating all data collected about an individual, including potentially disqualifying information, in order to determine whether the individual may be granted or denied Unescorted Access Authorization or Unescorted Access.

Documents and tracks authorization steps for employees and contractors.

Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of notes and findings in NIX (Nuclear In-Processing Xpress) and the maintenance of paper case files.

Reviews and interprets new regulations, restrictions, and guidelines to determine impact to the Company.

Ability to provide night and weekend support during outage work.

Serves as a primary point of contact, providing support and guidance to company and regulatory personnel during audits and inspections.

Provides direction and training to Nuclear Access team, new hires, and management as needed.

Proven ability to build relationships with station personnel and key industry stakeholders to meet demands of the nuclear station operations and industry regulators.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 3+ years of directly related experience is required

  • Thorough knowledge of the NRC’s Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA), Unescorted Access and Fitness for Duty Programs (AA/FFD).

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Nuclear In-Processing Xpress (NIX) and Personnel Access Data System (PADS)

  • Completion of NEI’s Reviewing Official (RO) training program preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Corrective Action Program.

  • Demonstrated skill in managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to review and interpret regulations and guidelines effectively.

  • Ability to apply knowledge in making unescorted access authorization decisions

  • Ability to work independently and achieve results with little supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to interact with supplemental personnel, other utility personnel, and all levels of employees.

Education Requirements

Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
