Job Summary

  • Conducts background investigations of new hires and non-Dominion Energy workers.

  • Conducts interviews, reviews and evaluates criminal history, and analyzes individual applications and reports.

  • Ensures all information provided by each applicant is accurate, complete, and truthful.

  • Reviews and evaluates all data collected about an individual, including potentially disqualifying information, to determine suitability for hire and/or access.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements for collecting individual background information.

  • Documents notes and findings, timely and accurately, into background database.

  • Responds to inquiries from Human Resources and company management regarding status of background investigations.

  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 0-2 years directly-related knowledge and experience in background investigations, and/or related experience.

  • Fundamental knowledge of background investigations.

  • Demonstrated skill in managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Ability to review and interpret regulations and guidelines effectively.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of hiring guidelines in making hiring and access authorization decisions.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to interact with supplemental personnel, other utility personnel, and all levels of employees.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor.

  • Ability to maintain the security of confidential information.

  • Ability to provide night and weekend support during high-volume processing and/or storm support.

Education Requirements
