The Framatome Fuel Business Group:

The Fuel Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.

Uranium Conversion and Recovery:

The Uranium Conversion and Recovery product center is responsible for the conversion of UF6 to UO2 powder and the recovery of Uranium from various scrap and waste streams. The focus of this position is to work in the GSUR (Solvent extraction) and MERF processes. Numerous mechanical and chemical processes are utilized to accomplish these activities.

Framatome is seeking a Manufacturing Tech II (UCAR Operator) for our Uranium Conversion and Recovery Product Center in Richland, WA. This position will require rotating shift work and will include occasional overtime. This candidate must function well as a member of the work team.

Duties will vary according to the specific area to which you are assigned; however, all assignments involve training to gain knowledge in the following:

  • Training to gain knowledge of applicable Standard Operating Procedures, Process Specifications, Radiation Work Procedures, Criticality Specifications, and Quality Control Standards.

  • Handling of fissile material and chemicals.

  • Operating production equipment in the manufacturing process of chemical/nuclear products.

  • Use of protective clothing and respirator.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

  • High school diploma or its equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 - 5 years of related experience.

  • Previous experience in chemical and nuclear processing.

  • Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions and have the ability to read, write and conduct simple mathematical calculations.

  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop and remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.

  • Capable of sensing various chemicals in the air by smell and sight.

  • Must be able to verbally communicate in English in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and occasional overtime

The following requ*irements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *

  • Previous experience with chemical processing experience.
