Hydro Operations & Maintenance Project Manager
Provide the leadership and Operations & Maintenance at the Tieton Hydro Dam (40 miles west of Yakima, Washington) with the responsibility of preparing work and directing/monitoring work in the field; provide problem resolution to ensure successful completion of work tasks; as well as monitoring plant performance. Responsible for communicating and coordinating activities with various work groups (e.g., Benton REA, Bureau of Reclamation, FERC) to ensure timely work completion. Communicate with O&M Services and various Agencies to provide status, oversight for outage activities and ensure work activities are accomplished in a safe manner in conformance with license requirements. Provide communication with the management on important project issues.
Primary responsibilities include: monitoring the Hydro Facility and responding (as necessary) to equipment issues; respond to plant outage events that can’t be remedied utilizing the SCADA system; Make call outs as necessary, to repair out of service equipment; Execute and maintain active contracts for services such as Facility support, component repair and other such contracts as are necessary for upkeep of the facility.
Work Management: Manage & perform work activities by prioritizing work tasks and coordinating available resources; Pre-plan the work and provide field supervision when necessary; Monitor on going work activities to assure they are executed in a safe and efficient manner; This oversight includes all aspects of project work including work package preparation, parts procurement, pre-job briefings, clearance order preparation/review and approval.
Implement work efficiently and effectively. This is accomplished through pre and post job briefs, supervising work in progress, providing coaching and feedback on performance, and monitoring work to ensure it’s conducted in accordance with procedures and management expectations. These expectations include following the elements of the Quest for Excellence”. Organizational, Operational, Training and Equipment Excellence and personnel safety is priority one.
Review of work documentation prior to the close out of work package(s) to ensure accuracy and completeness and that the work objectives have been met.
Establish and monitor contractor and internal support performance and provide critical feedback on a situational and periodic basis.
Miscellaneous Duties: Monitor plant performance using SCADA and reporting that data to the owner by preparation/distribution of Monthly Reports. Prepare and present Quarterly Performance data. Prepare annual Operating Plan and budget for approval by the Project Owner.
Training: Schedule the necessary training of assigned personnel either through Energy Northwest Training of outside vendors. All training shall be documented
Safety and Aceman: Prepare and lead monthly Safety and weekly Aceman meetings with all on site personnel. These sessions are to be documented on a Training Attendance Record (TAR) and kept in the project files.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of power plant or related technical experience in an industrial environment of which four years are in a supervisory, lead or project management role OR;
An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of power plant or related experience in an industrial environment of which five years are in a supervisory, lead or project management role OR;
High school diploma or GED and twelve years of power plant or related technical experience in an industrial environment of which six years are in a supervisory, lead or project management role.
Additional education/technical certification may be considered in lieu of experience.
Salary: $96,701 minimum to $120,876 midpoint
Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
