General Summary

This position is posted at multiple levels.

In this position, you'll provide independent civil engineering services and support related to the buildings and site by performing tasks in support of the design modification, operation, and independent assessment of Energy Northwest non-plant facilities. This would include building design and modification to ensure structures meet current building codes; site development and planning.

Provide independent engineering service and support by performing complex engineering tasks requiring specialized skills and broad experience in the application of engineering fundamentals in support of the design modification, operation, and independent assessment of Energy Northwest facilities. Provide technical guidance within assigned discipline or activity.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, evaluations, studies, instructions, utilizing specialized analytical skills. Support systems, programs, audits, inspections, and assessments using skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. May provide unconventional or advanced problem solving techniques. Routinely provide technical leadership on complex and/or extended programs and projects. Integrate design, regulatory, operating maintenance and administrative requirements into tasks. Perform tasks within schedule and budget. Ensure effective coordination of efforts with other departments and disciplines. Work with minimum supervision.

  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers; check and review technical products of others. Serve as a mentor.

  • Identify potential schedule or quality problems and initiate corrective actions in accordance with plant CR process.

  • Develop plans for programs, projects, audits, testing, and inspections; lead audits and inspections. Use engineering judgment in evaluating results for findings.

  • Interface with regulatory agencies as required.

  • A limited amount of industry participation is required.

Engineering employees are expected to be available and to support the following activities as a condition of employment with Energy Northwest:

  • Emergency Response Organization (ERO) including being on-call (24/7) during your required team duty (2 weeks out of every 8 weeks).

  • 12 hour work shifts during outages as part of our overall Outage support (24/7) including Outage Command Center and Engineering Outage Center

  • Engineering duty cycle support (24/7) including call-out availability during your responsible duty assignment. (This is a shared responsibility across all engineering positions).

PREFERRED SKILL-SET

Knowledge of current building codes including the International Building Code (IBC) with Washington State amendments, American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

ENGINEER SENIOR

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and five years of discipline specific engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained by an accredited examination and five years of discipline specific engineering experience. High school diploma or GED is required.

ENGINEER STAFF

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and at least one year of engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained by accredited examination and at least one year of engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

ENGINEER

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or a PE license obtained by accredited examination and zero to three years of discipline engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Salary Range

Salary:

ENGINEER SENIOR: $86,665 minimum to $112,081 midpoint

ENGINEER STAFF: $77,963 minimum to $97,454 midpoint

ENGINEER: Salary: $67,838 minimum to $84,798 midpoint

Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
