GENERAL SUMMARY
Leadership and supervision of health physics technicians and exempt staff as assigned to provide comprehensive radiation protection services to plant organizations. This position supervises radiation protection services for plant activities, including radiation surveys, radioactive material control, job coverage, RCA access control and personnel/equipment release, radioactive shipping activities and radioactive source inventory. Major responsibilities include maintaining technician and exempt staff as assigned qualifications and scheduling and monitoring work in field.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supervise the activities of health physics technicians and exempt staff as assigned through the following:
Implement processes to meet the Radiological Services Department and Energy Northwest business plan objectives and foster continuous improvement.
Resolve personnel problems.
Make recommendations and decisions regarding employment, performance expectations/reviews, promotions, salary changes, transfers and terminations.
Supervise field activities associated with personnel radiation protection, including radiation surveys, job coverage and work control.
Develop and maintain crew schedules and daily job assignments, including approving overtime. This involves attending plant work planning meetings to ensure radiation protection services are integrated into the daily schedule.
Review and approve radiation work permits and pre- and post-job ALARA reviews.
Perform routine observations of personnel performance in the RCA.
Ensure health physics technician qualifications are satisfactory, including identifying training necessary and scheduling classroom training and/or OJT. Assist and train subordinates as necessary. This position will periodically rotate to Nuclear Training as an instructor/developer and will perform instruction, develop training, and maintain the health physics technician training program.
Conduct and/or participate in Radiological Services self-assessments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Physics or related Science/Engineering or technical training/education similar to that acquired through an in-grade apprenticeship program plus a high school diploma or GED. Also requires six years technician or professional experience in various aspects of applied radiation protection. Five years of this experience should be at a commercial nuclear facility.
Training in radiation protection is required. This training may be satisfied via industry provided training programs and/or formal education.

Pay Range
$119,107.00 - $178,661.00 Annual
Midpoint:
$148,884.00
Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation
This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
